ePSXe causes blue screen

ePSXe experts, I need help again!
After I've downloaded ePSXe, it keeps giving me problems of blue screens. Anytime I start Windows, I get about 6-7 blue screens. I tried to disable all starup programs, it worked as I didn't get anymore blue screens, but it causes me serious problems because those programs are necessary. Is this because ePSXe is NOT compatible with some programs?
And even after I reinstalled DirectX8.0a and Windows 98, the problem persists! (Incredible)
Even deleting ePSXe wan't easy, because it keeps showing the "Access Denied: File might be in use" error message. Even MS-DOS prompt can't delete it, I had to "Restart in MS-DOS mode".
What's wrong with ePSXe? Or my PC?

no, that's fpse, LOL ;)

anyways, sandslash...I think epsxe wont be the only program giving you problems....the way you describe the problem it sounds like your computer needs some good cleaning up.
Reformat, reinstall with originals not a back-up of your system. And make sure you are using up to date drivers.
ultimate solution eh? :D
: ) BIG SMILE

Thanks, all of you! I'll try downloading this force aspi. You're all very supportive, I love you guys!
I don't think I'll give up using ePSXe, either, cause I've been able to play a bit of Genso Suiko Gaiden with it, and I want to play again!
Please keep supporting me should I encounter more problems, okay?
Samor: I don't have ANY problems with ANY other programs. I think the problem's only between ePSXe and some of my applications.
Anyway, I'll try force aspi now. Thanks!
Force ASPI?

What do I do with this force aspi? I downloaded it fine, then extracted it, then what am I supposed to do? I've run Instaspi, is that the right thing to do? What is force aspi? What does it do? Please tell me.
Thanks!

You've done it right, just reboot after installing Force ASPI. This tool will install an "ASPI Layer", a set of drivers that you need to use most CDR plugins.

Force aspi

But I'm later told that "An application recently ran overwrited Winaspi.dll with an older version. what should I do? Recover the old one (supposedly newer version) or keep the new one (the one I got from force aspi)?
Force aspi didn't help, any other suggestions?

uh, force aspi didn't help me. I decided to stick with the winaspi.dll that force aspi gave me instead of recovering my old one, but it didn't help, I still got blue screens at startup. What should I do? Any other suggestions?
Hmm...I guess I could take a shot at this.

I'm going to need more information than what you have provided.

#1 what CPU are you using? is it AMD, Intel, Cyrx. And is it overclocked, and if it is OC'd do you have adequet cooling.

#2 Are your video, sound, and motherboard drivers up-to-date?

#3 what psemupro plugins are you using with epsxe?

#4 you said you reinstalled windows...did you do a simple reinstall (e.g put the cd in and just restore the windows system folder) or did you do a fresh iinstall (e.g format the hard drive and then install windows)

#5 slim chance of this, but are you logging into your computer as the Administrator, or as a user (yes, some people set their computers up to login as themselfs but in a lower privilage mode...go figure that!) make sure your logged in as the administrator.

#6 what game is it you are trying to run? have you had the same problems with other PSX games.

#7 have you tried making ISO of the games you own with ISO buster?

edit
it might be your virus program. I have the same problem with my pc-cillin virus monitor. I have to close the virus monitor before i run epsxe.
Hmm... solution in sight!

Cubu: I'm using PC-Cilin too! You said, "I have to the virus monitor..." You had to... what?

Liquid:
1. Aspire by Acer. Pentium III, 500 MHz. What's Overclocking?
2. Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce2 MX 100/200, 32 MB.
Sound Card: ESS PCI Solo-1 DirectSound Driver
Motherboard driver: ??? But I think yes, these aren't too old.
3. Lots, but it doesn't seem to matter, I get blue screens with any of them.
4. Simple reinstall I suppose.
5. No
6. I wanna play Gensosuikogaiden! When I tried disabling all startup programs I managed to play a little. But I can't disable them forever. And yes, it doesn't matter what game, I get blue screens.
7. Nope
