mm, I have similar issue in Vista X86, tried 1.52/1.6/1.7 versions of ePSXe and all showed me black screen, I thought that the emulator wasn't Vista compatible.

At that time I wanna rollback to XP SP3 anyway (really, vista SUCKS at 101%), so I did it and the emu work like a charm since then, also my Creative Sound Card.

usually because of DEP, although its possible to occur in XP as well. disabling it will correct it most of the time, so its not like it is impossible to get epsxe working, i use vista myself and it runs just fine.
