Have you noticed how people on this forum are concerned about getting RPGs to work. You almost never hear about someone expriencing problems with Crash Bandicoot, they want their Final Fantasy, their Chrono Cross, their Breath of Fire. One of the most anticipiated compatibility feature is the ability of an emulator to run Parasite Eve 2.
Emulation was invented so people could enrich their otherwise western RPGs library with some cute manga-esque dragons and warriors.

not alway True, just for some odd reason RPGs do the weirdest things and are some of hte harder games to get running. PLUS Translations, emulation allows for foreign RPGs to be translated giving great RPGs to us, you play a fighter like DBZ, you don't NEED it in english (or your native language) INFACT most DBZ translations do not actually TRANSLATE anything, they just make up thier own story and insert the text. As for emulation, STILL no one has figured out how to emulate Star Ocean or Far East of Eden yet. damn SDD chip, and eventually they just gave up on it, and cheated by decompressing the graphics seperate from emulating them.

Plus most sports fans are computer illeterate and don't bother with emulators.

I think that some of the greatest RPGs ever made were never released IN the US and can only be played by Emulation/Translation now, here is my list:

Terranigma (was in english, released in Europe but not in the US of A)
Seiken Densetsu 3 (KICK ASS GAME)
Tales of Phantasia (If you haven't played it, why are you sitll sitting there, go play it)

wow! terranigma is the best one for snes! it's like an adventure mixed with a RPG but you can't notice the difference...

yea terranigma was tight but for the reason of only rpgs for the emulation is because...
you're not going to have a party with like your homies playing street fighter on your comp would u? I'd thought that would be a little squishy. especially for n64 emulation since the fun of n64 comes into 4 players

the best rpg game for psx, well at least a fourth part whit Final Fantasy Series and chrono cross and vagrant story

they are best games, sort of

then if I think about it, yeah the psx emulation is specially for the rpg games

anyone played lufia II for snes? not very popular but yea it was kinda.. fun. good music nice storyline.. u know snes type of rpgs

er... i thought that secret of evermore (snes) was pretty bad... I don't even know if its made by square. (probably made by square usa)

Secret of Evermore was definitely made by square, and not just Square USA, and I liked, only cuz it has Cecil in it tho.

As for Lufia 2, that game was so awesome, much better than Lufia, kind of funny that Lufia 2 is a prequel to Lufia. But Lufia 2 also throws a whole bunch of animes together, like there are "Pocket Monsters" that can evolve and suck, wonder where that is from *COUGH*pokemon*COUGH* and the 7 hidden orbs around the world that when you collect all of them and go to this certain spot a god dragon apears to grant you a wish *COUGH* dragonball*COUGH* But its a really fun game.

Anyway, Lufia was very good.

No. The initial subject (which, btw, has been veered away from) is about emulation seemingly being geared toward RPGers and, since the one forum that has numerous subjects about RPGs is the ePSXe forum, this is most suitable in the current forum. If you want to talk about your favorite RPG that isn't on ePSXe (or don't have an argument for or against lotanam's initial topic), talk about it in another thread elsewhere.

I personally think it's exactly what Ryoga said - RPGs are just more difficult to emulate.

I like LOM a lot. the storyline is pretty much non existant but the graphics are awesome and the game is quite random rather than linear. i really disliked ff8 because it was such a linear game. i havent played ff9 yet, i'll probably pick it up off ebay if enough of you convince me its better than 8.
