Emulation is way too fast......

1954 Views 20 Replies 7 Participants Last post by  Vince20100
I have installed the new ePSXe on my system. Everything seems to work fine and all the plug ins are set. The only problem I am having is the speed is too fast. I looked up in forums and stuff and they said i have to change the frame rates. I went ahead and did it manually and changed it to 50 or 60. Still the speed of the emulation is way too fast. I am using petes 3d plug in.

My specs,

pent4 1.5ghz
640megRam
50xAsus cd drive
Creative labs sound blaster platinum 5.1 live
Creative labs 3D blaster annihilator 2 ultra 64mb
Operating system windows 98SE

All my drivers are up to date.

Can someone please help me out with this problem?

Note: This is a really cool web board, is it FREE or shareware?

If you're using Pete's Plugins, make sure you check "Use FPS Limit".

Hope that helps!

Oh, maybe you should upgrade to Windows ME because I heard that takes advantage of your P4.
Badaro....Thanks, it worked. It seems I have to find the right fps which will be done. :)

Vivi Dude......Thanks for the kind words about my computer. Although I was stupid for spending so much money on it when I could of waited a few more months and purchased it for half the price I got it for.

WindowsME.......You really think windowsME is good? I bought it and used it for a month. It seems that windows me was giving me too many errors and it really wasnt pc friendly. Do you have any solutions on how I can make it work perfecto?

Set it up for 60 for NTSC games, and 50 for PAL games. That should do it.

Freddy, gald to have you on the boards.:D I agree w/Vivi Dude, you have a fantastic computer. I'll bet you are really proud of it. I am running an Athlon T-Bird 1.2ghz and I love it. I see that you live in San Jose. I live in North Highlands which is a suburb of Sacramento. So we are both Californians and not to far away from each other either. Again, glad to have you here, anytime you need help, just ask.
sincerely,

Glad to be on board, and what excites me the most is that the response time is fairly quick. Now this is what I call a board. :)

I'll have to spend a lot of time on this board from now on. I use ikonboard which is free. But my web site is mainly about my father who is a singer.

I live in Chicago, but I put San Jose cause I will be getting married on August 25th and moving to San Jose a week after. But yes, I will be a californian.

You guys are great!
Hi, Freddy. Is Windows ME the version that boots up without DOS?
If so, I heard from a reliable friend that its no good. Windows runs alot better with DOS.
Why there is two versions of windowsMe? To be honest with ya, windowsMe is an awsome OS. But it doesnt work well with my computer. I would either have to get a different video card, or sound card in order for it to work. Its all about the settings, and if I bring my settings down then i wont be in top performance. Right now, everything is running at top peak.

Freddy, glad you are happy here. We try our best Also, welcome to California (I know you aren't quite here yet). Trust me you'll like it. Again, from me, all the other admistrators (I'm an admin here), and all the members: WELCOME!!

Well windows ME may take advantage of your P4 a bit better, but I doubt you'd notice it. I read a short piece in US News magazine today that said winME will boot a bit faster on new machines like yours, Freddy, but it won't work with some hardware also like yours I guess. It also said most of the new multi media stuff can be downloaded free from Microsoft and that if you weren't getting a PC with winME already installed its not really worth it. Anyway, good luck with ePSXe.

I like it too. Because, as I stated in my post, windows runs better(with more stability) with DOS according to a friend.

or were you being sarcastic?

What windows system are we talking about? If we are talking about 95,98,98se and windowsMe then we all should know that windows runs better without dos. Take a look at windows2k....the most stable system from all the versions. It never crashes or locks up on you. The only problem I had was with my Explorer. It would crash from time to time, but that was because it was new and I hadn't downloaded the SP1.

Now there is IE6 which I believe runs a whole lot smoother then 5 for the Windows2k.

If you want my opinion....I think windows2k is the best system out there for business and home users. The only think it lacks is compatibility with hardware and software.

No, i really like dos
At least takes forever to freeze ;)
AND its much more stylish than Win
BTW, maybe i didnt understand well what u meant to say cause my english isnt perfect :)
Freddy, I most definitely agree with you about win2000 being most stable. My PC-wiz friend would too. But win ME is a diferent story. The only reason I didn't put win2000 on my PC is the software uncompatibility issue. I'm an avid gamer.(and even if a game does run its usually slower on 2000)
G
The reason for the software and hardware incompatabilitys is because Win 2000 is not a gameing OS. It is a business OS and is actually what was supposed to be Win NT 5. Being a business OS, it really isn't designed w/gaming software in mind. But w/some work, you can get a lot of programs working w/it. Win ME, 98, and 95 are gaming OS's. They take advantage of hardware and software both. Most games, emus, and other programs work fine w/them. Win XP is what I am waiting for. It is a marriage of Win 2000 and Win ME, w/the best features of both. Great for gaming/personal use and great for business use. Thats for me. It should (read should) be out in October of this year.

winXP sounds good. I'll keep my eye out for it.
Whilst I wait for WinXP I use a dual boot between Win2K and WinME. That way I get the best of both worlds games on Me and everything else on 2K... However that said most of the games that I have tried thus far work in Win2K with enough coersion. In fact the only games I need Win Me for are System Shock 2 and Black and white.
