I don't have a net adapter(nor a real need for one outside of this) for my PS2 and i was just wondering if there was any way to use the dumpbios utility to dump my BIOS to a thumb drive, instead of over the net adapter?

I dont know whether the PL2301/2302 USB-USB cable will work with the Bios Dumper. I could be wrong. But the easiest way to dump it is to download ps2link/inlink get a Network Adaptor and X-oVer cable and either run ps2link via exploit or swap magic or mod chip. then send the dumper to your ps2 that way.

Wow, my thread got a response from one of the Devs(you guys are awesome, keep up the good work) I'm honored. Actually, I think I can get the utility on to a memory card using my codebreaker v.9(I think) and assumably I could run it using an exploit, but what I'm wondering is, if it is designed to use the net adapter(assumably the sony one and not the usb ones you can buy), would the proram let me dump the BIOS to a thumb drive in that scenario(assuming that such a scenario is possable).

Yes you can, and i have this tool, do you want it? Marcansoft (a good friend) has created the first write driver for usb drives. Lets see.... Can i upload the file or its illegal? I'll wait for an answer....

you can dump to USB stick, but you'll have to do minimal changes to the dumper tool:
you need USBD.irx from a game and mass driver from ps2dev.org or projects that uses it (eg. ps2os)
then you have to load those modules in the dumper source at the begining of program and change the destination files to be dumped to usb0:
finally you have to recompile it.

But how will you run it? I think you probably want to run it from stick also :D
Well, there is a way; use ps2os run from memory card with the independence exploit

naplink could do this evenbefore pukklink/inlink was released.

in theory, the usb drive thing could work, but is most likely too complicated for the person who started this thread.

Unfortunately, bgnome is right in that recompiling the software in windows would be out of the question for me(I don't have a compiler, any suggestions for a good free compiler for windows would be nice), but maybe if someone else has a similar interest. Also, unless I am missing the link somewhere, I do not have access to the source code for the dump utility. On the other hand I was able to get that usb driver(USBD.irx) off my gran turismo 3 disc(although i have no idea why there is a usb driver in gran turismo 3) and I was able to find ps2os 0.3. So, I guess if I could get past the compiling I do have everything else needed.
