Hmm, when I try to run the game using Pete's 3D plugins the wierdest thing happens. The game seems to run fine at first, but as soon as a popup menu comes up, it screws up and the background becomes 2D. Once the popup goes away, things right themselves and become 3d accelerated again. Very wierd. 2D gfx plugins seem to work ok, except for the fact that polygons always seem excessively pixelated even at higher resolutions. Very wierd.

I haven't managed to get ahold of a copy of DW7, but try pete's soft gpu, software drivers often have the best compatability.

I tried the game with a couple of emus but none got it to view correctly, ePSXe was able to run the game heh, but it crashes alot on the cdrom and on the GPU when i run it sometimes, and that disables my openGl so i have to reboot to retry another setting heh, if i find something that is working good, i'll let you guys know as well.

Ohh nice man, i got it to work perfectly on those settings, i havn't tried a battle yet but the text and the rest seems nice with no glitchs.

I used like mentioned above
- Pete Soft Drive 1.54
- Eternal SPU Plugin 1.0
- ePSXe CDR ASPI core 1.0.1

It took some time but i made it to the first battles and man the game has little or no glitchs! This game has to be one of the best RPG's i ever played, even thou i'm a big Dragon Warrior fan since NES i can already see they did a great job on this one, can't wait to get further in the game. Around towns i'm getting around 40-50 fps when i get around 80fps its smooth i might play with the settings to get higher fps in towns.

heck. come on now yall, dragon warrior 7 is not all that great, alwite. the character graphics look 16bit-ish, and the battle scene is not much improved from the supernintendo DQ series.

its people like you that are driving all games the way of the movies: all eye candy and no substance.
lunar & lunar 2 were awesome games and the graphics are just as old school. if you can tell me that those games "are not all that great, alwite" i would kick you where you stand.. :p

I've always thought old sk00l rpg's are some of the best ever made, true eye candy is great but they are rare in rpgs combined with good a story line, heck i still like dragon warrior 4 on NES because it's story line is simply incredible and thats what stays in your memory and not the graphics, that's how i feel anyway.

With the exception of Dragon Quest 1 (no i don't mean Dragon Warrior 1) all the Dragon Warrior/Quest games had a nice "feel" to them. Eye candy is nice, but I would rather have DW7 on 2 discs than FF9 on 4 - makes storage of the ISOs easier.

Darklordjames, haven't heard from you in a while. If I may ask, are you playing the US NTSC version of DW VII? If so, where did you find it? As far as I know it hasn't been released here in the US yet and if I recollect correctly, you're a citizen of the USA just like me.
Thanks for any help, as I am anxious to get my hands on this game.
BTW the way, since you seem to like DW so much, have you checked out DW 1/2 and DW III on the GBC yet? I have, and they are fantastic. Long live DW.
sincerely,
sx/amiga

oh come on man, when it comes down to RPGs, graphic means nothing. I mean, the greatest rpg ever has to be final fantasy 6(3 in U.S.) and you know as well as i do that little stumpy people arent the best graphics. even if you dont agree with me that ff6 is the best, all you old school rpgers out there that played the good old snes rpgs know that the best rpgs belonged to snes.

by the way, i hated ff7, ff8, chrono cross and ff9 was "half" decent :p

p.s. suikoden was the great rpg for psx but we all know how bad those graphics were
xenogears was pretty coo too

hmm... i havent played the lunar series, r they worth buying? at a local retailer store near me Lunar 2 PS sales for sixty dollars us... unbelievably pricy...:( and about yer kind comments towards me, or my kinda ppl, well, if u don think graphics r important for a rpg, fine with me. i myself juz believe for a rpg it should be as important to have good graphics as a good storyline. itz not my fault movies & games nowadays have ignored puttin' efforts on writin' a great plot, concentratin' on kul special effects. oh, and have u played dw7 yerself? go ahead, and then tell me u can stand the crapy battle system and those poorly managed dialogue boxes:p

oh and for the dude above... all those old class rpgs u mentioned, they do have decent graphics, considering when they came out and wut system they were built for, so there. i am juz sayin' w/ a system as powerful as ps, dw7 could have done better.

I'm not sure about Lunar EB, but I was very disappointed in the PSX version of Lunar: The Silver Star. Sure, the graphics were upgraded. Everything else took a nosedive.

If DW 7 has the same kinds of menus the previous DWs had, it's really not all that difficult to decipher. :p

Obviously a lot of people put a great deal of emphasis on graphics in RPGs, because otherwise Legend of Dragoon would not be revered like it is. There's a reason FF7 was a breakthrough in RPG sales in America. It was an RPG non RPGers could enjoy.
