Yeah, it's a great game, of course, some will say it's too dark, but, I think it sets quite an oppressing atmosphere, and I quite enjoy it :)
like on my other system, those hand were like a white, textureless crap lol

now there hairy texture goodness :D
yeah, doom3 r0x0rs
also i notice older montiors can make it darker then what it suppose to. cuz on my older Dell trinion montior it was super dark but on my current montior its the way it suppose to be not to dark and not to bright just right.
Doom 3 is one damn fine piece of work. I would consider it more of a survivor-horror than a 'bust-out-your-plasma-gun-and-mow-down-a-room-full-of-50-imps' style shooter like the old ones. Of course, handling 50 of those kind of models would be pretty hard on the machine. But still, it's a little slower-paced than classic Doom, yet still so damn sweet; It is the first game that has ever made me jump because it startled me and on more than one occasion too. Not to mention those awesome lighting effects and textures.

I just with my machine would run it without CRASHING
BTW, anyone with a sound card that supports EAX4 should get the recent 1.3 patch, it REALLY improves the sound :)
if only i still played it maybe i;'d get the patch :p

Looks like he's trying to open futuristic can of beer. Im thirsty...

I got a similar experience when i bought my 6800GT, and especially when i added my 3D shutters. (requires quite a lot of tweaking for this game though) Scared bejezus out of me.
I played Doom 3 and it wasn't that good.

The graphics looked great -- if you see them. The majority of the game takes place in almost pitch black corridors so you can't see the fine detail of the game.

The gameplay also uses a few cheap tactics. You see that armour item in the room? Don't pick it up because a demon is going pop up and get you. You walk a few meters down the hall - BAM a demon transports behind you.

If you like haunted houses with ghost popping up around the corner then you might like Doom 3.

Personally I find the gameplay too repetitive.
Well, RZetlin, games aren't as fun when you don't even meet the minimum requirements to play them.
I don't even bother playing a game if I can't play it at full speed and with full graphics.

haha there goes cooliscool dissing hardware because it sucks but wait....

he's right!!

Rzetlin, i'm afraid to say, but your hardware is WAY too outdated to really be making a comment on graphics. now, if you played the game at your friend's house who has a 6800GT and Athlon 64...then i retract my statement. but with your current rig, you cant really say much.

it's like playing HL2 and saying all the textures and graphics suck. well if you're playing in DX7 mode of course it's gonna be ugly.

i played Doom3 on high at around 20-30 fps on my 5600 and i thought it was sexy (and not too dark actually...yeah it's in the dark but the stuff you see when you get up to it is awesome). nowadays on my 6800 the game is pretty damn good (and runs about 3x faster :p )
