IMO, it looks like it could be a nice movie, at has an Aliens feel (even the G36 are modified to be Pulse Rifle alikes) that makes me want to see it
What's nice to know is that it's gonna be a R-rated movie (according to imdb.com)

Doesn't look like it has the atmosphere I'd hope for from a Doom movie. Seems like it'll be too much of an action movie when what it should be is a horror flick. Hopefully it won't turn out like the Resident Evil movie...

Yeah of course, but I don't think it will be Matrix-like, actually when I made that thread,
I was thinking on how good it will be compared to RE:A (I hated the movie by just its trailer, with Alice running down a buliding vertically), the first RE was ok though.

The movie I'm really waiting for is Silent Hill anyways
What surprises me is that Konami chose a french film-maker (the one who made "Pact of the Wolves"), prolly because
they know frenchies won't screw the movie by adding useless eye-candy FX.

A movie without Hell is not a Doom movie!

Instead of evil coming out of hell, it's a human genome experiment that causes the whole mess on Mars. Since there's no Hell there won't be demons --- just mutated humans. No Satanic symbols, just "clean" labs.

Why are there a lot of survivors on Mars? Shouldn't they been eaten by the monsters?

I guess they changed the story on purpose, they don't want to shock overly religious americans ^^
I never played Doom 3 anyways (only the demo) and I never finished the first one, so
I won't care much about the plot... and I'll watch the DVD/Divx, I'm too lazy to go to the theater

basic startling jump right out at you fear thats no different from the game... check
resemblence to the games only in name... check

I think its safe to assume this movie is pretty B grade.

We all know that it will not be much like the game, so why not see it as a stand alone movie?
I'm not saying it will be the movie of the year, but probably fine to watch at least once

I was hoping more of a action horror movie where a scientist opens the gates of hell wtih spactacularly gory results and a few hundred glowing pentagrams on the walls, not another Resident Evil style "Scientist makes zombie virus, containment systems screw up, everyone turns into a zombie or some other monster, team gets sent into the dangerous lab to investigate instead of a few unmanned probe who gets killed one by one, eventual cliffhanger ending before the last guy dies"

At least there will be hell knights

Well, I remember reading that it wasn't even going to be on mars, but I guess it is now. But why are they going to make it another RE movie? I mean, I'm pretty sure hell would have been much better, I don't know if it's the fact that I'm sick of the same "oh noes, transforming geans! LOLOLOL!!!!!11" or if it's because it's a DOOM movie!!

It's hollywood dude, deal with it. Let an american port a game to a movie and it will always be the same: Money income > 2x ( Overall quality + Game fidelity )

Well it's kinda of like translating a satanic bible to something else and somehow getting a book on how great god is. I know it's hollywood, but do they really think it will sell more? I mean the rock is in it!

They don't need a good actor, they need someone who can handle a soldier role.
Soldiers don't think, soldiers don't make big sentences, the Rock fits this lack of needs ^^

BTW, the Rock will prolly help (or decrease) sells in US, but in other countries
he's as unknown as Johnny Haliday is in US... they are both local dumbasses.
