There have been many discussions about this game, many of which talk about sound, now whilst there is no 'proper' way to get sound in the 0.8.1 release, you can rest assured that the 0.9 release will be much better. Not only is the game fully playable, at decent speeds (100% or more), but take a listen to this:

Yeah, yeah,sound in games like Disgaea and LaPucelle now working is quite well, in 0.9 version...

To quote the FAQ I made:

When will the next version be released?

The authors are writing this in there spare time. If they knew, they would inform you, normally a release is made when significant progress and a big difference in 'output' is shown, eg, when you the end user will be able to see more stuff running.

I know it's a bytch waiting, but wait you must, plenty more to be fixed before a 0.9 release is even considered

After seeing the amazing progress made with the nippon ichi games like Disgaea, would it be safe to say the recently released Makai Kingdom would work well with the release of 0.9?

makai kingdom already works quite well. sound is a little buggy for now, so music doesnt seem to work. voices play at full speed, and the game is around 100% except during special attacks (heavy on 3d gfx) and during the space cutscenes, prolly cuz of the image warping...

i am impressed to say the least.

it's actually one of the only progressing next generation emulators, if I recall.

ok i switched from using ps2.0 to ps1.4 and speed goes WAY up. everything runs at about 100-140% speed, and even with the special attack 3d effects the fps only drops to 70% at the lowest and only for a second or two. (this is for makai kingdom, still playing the beginning)

edit: ok later on it slows down a little more at times, but overall, its still very fast and very playable
