Windows XP comes with the root of all local drives shared by default. thus, I can access my root drive by typing "//myPC/c$" into any other computer and typing my password. When I try to disable these shrares, Windows says they are shared for "administrative purposes," and will be restarted when the computer is restarted. For what purpose are these shared, and how can I disable them permanently if it won't cause any damage?
