I'm looking for any emulator that plays retail games that I can run on my PII 266(non-sse) :hdbash: . Ive tryed crankcast but my PC is not fast enough. Any sugestions? I have Nightmare emulator, but I've looked it up and they said tthat it was a hoxe. :cuss2: Any help anyone could give me would help  I'm drunk :eyespin:

Alas, you'll need to upgrade your computer. No way around it.
Better stick with SEga GEnesis and Snes emulators for that system. The dreamcast was a 200 mhz system. You can't realistically emulate that on a 266 mhz P2 sytem. It'd probably be easier to emulate the P2 266 mhz CPU on the dreamcast. :lol

You should spend the money on the booze on a new computer
I plan to do both. I'm no moron(except when I'm drinking). I don't drink that often anyhow. Thanks for the input. I've done more with my crapy P2 then I should be able to, like play postal 2, c&c: genrals and othe newer games that should'nt even work. That's why I have high expectations.

P.S. There is no way that I would upgrade the rig. It's at max as it is. I'm just going to build a new one.

P.S.S. Does the athlon 64 support SSE?

Yes! and SSE2 as well.

The Dreamcast design team stated that the main DC CPU could outperform the fastest Pentium II CPU by over 300% (back in 1998 that was a huge achievement)
To compare the stuff a little bit: I have a AMD K-6 running at 333mHz (currently at 350 cause a friend had a spare processor :)), with 256 megs of SD ram, and a Viper V770 32mb (TNT2 based).

The pc version of Grandia 2 in example runs like crap on my pc. You can blame it for being a bad port. But the it's the same with PSO. PSO looks great on the DC, but it wouldn't even run on my pc. And on the new pc it still looks like crap when compared...

It's not emulating a P2 266... but the DC runs DreamSnes (a Snes9x port) just about as well as my pc. It can also play DivX at about the same speed...

So yes, I think it's a fair comparison in some ways, though other tests might prove the opposite. But I know for sure that my pc isn't able to run a game like Sonic Adventure 2 or Shenmue 2 at the same speed the DC does.

It never hurts to try, but about the DC emulation: Just forget it ;)
