Despite the fact there are cuurently no cards that support DX10, Crytek managed to pull off a demo at PDC 2005 using software layering to show what to expect when the DX update & cards are out. They used the Farcry environment to show:
* Dynamic Day/Night Cycle
* Fully interactive environments
* Sunrays + Diffuse transmissions
* Real-time soft shadows & Soft particles
* Interactive/destructive environments
* Volumetric clouds
* and last but not least, Advanced shader technology!
