It was alittle hard to read your post but I chatch your drift, you want Square to come out with a game that owns FF7. This might be challangeing because many think it was a good game.

Personally I didn't care much for FF7 at all. I liked other Final Fantasy games a lot better. (I can hear gasps already) So I think Square could do this. They just have to stop kissing their own ases and try to make a good game and not just recycle old ones over and over.

sorry about that post I tried quoting myself saying that but it didn't work lol, anyway oO RB you didn't love FF7....ok....anyway well maybe they cool I mean the graphics up to now are getting better, and the music (if and only if Nobuo Uematsu is still in the company) is going to be awesome but the stories well FF8-10.2 were pretty much lame (at least for me) none of them kept me addicted to the game like FF6 and FF7 did (at least for me..)

Yes it is possible, current systems have way more power in terms of graphics and sound to 'expres' the story (I mean higher quality of images, voice, en better music). So if the story is better than the one of FF7, it will be done

FF7 could possibly never be topped. In my case, it would have to be a game that affected me on the level FF7 did, and it seriously affected my emotional side. To a level which just hearing some music from the game can make me cry godammit. The fact that FF7 was fantastic on so many levels (story/ characters/ music/ design/ graphics/ gameplay) makes it such a milestone. It's the computer game equivelant of Metallica's "Master of Puppets" (unless you're a Slayer fan...)

FF8 came closest. But after the disappointments that were FF9/10 (IMO) i don't think there's much going for FFXII, especially after Square-Enix totally sold out with FFX-2. *shudders* Paine was the only good thing going in that. It was less of a game, more of a masculinity remover.

I do hope some developer will make a game that beats FFVII. But in the present with more publishers only releasing games they know will make a profit (All hail EA) i expect just to see Half Life, Medal of Honour and Max Payne clones until I die.

I rarely play rpg's these days but i still measure most rpg games by FF7. I think because it was my first rpg that i played besides Zelda for snes that i like it so much.
The only game that i consider better is Xenogears.

As for Square making games better its matter who you talk to. Like i didnt care for FFX so much but you can talk to couple other people and they say its the best. We all have different opinions.

My thoughts is that they are still creating the best stories out there and at the same time best graphics. In some people views Square will never make better game than ff7 but who really cares b/c its just a videogame.

As for the thread's topic, it all comes down to tastes. I mean, who said that FFVII was the best game Squaresoft made? As far as I am concerned it was a great game just not the overhyped game everyone makes it appear to be... as a matter of fact I liked FFVI slighly more than FFVII. Will Square top its greatest games? In their current shape I think not... imo they lost their charm long ago... I stress the "imo".

Well, what I said is more because no one can tell when or if Square will make a game better than FF7, and you also have to consider that everyone likes (or dislikes) FF7 to a different degree, this topic really has no point.

Oh and, yeah, Kaiser is right, Zelda isn't a RPG but an Adventure game.

as for the topic, IMHO FF9 and FF Tactics are the best of the series. FFX-2 the worst :heh: i also think the music in Chrono Cross is much better than that of FF7. but thats just me . what the heck do i know

CC wasn't really crap if you had 3GBA's, 3 Link Cables, A Gamecube and the Game and 3 friends...which what...comes out to about $400 maybe. A Little Pricy to get a decent game . And the fact it was just using the FF Title to get publicity without actually being an FF game should make it irrelevant in any FF discussion.
