What version of ePSXe are you running? Video Plugin and settings? PC Specs, including video card?
chrono cross video problem(game spoilers)

The game had been running fine up until the part where I'm at Lucca's house. The screen is black except for a little bar that shows some of the floor texture.
The house is on fire and I can see 3 flames on the black screen. My character can still move around and talk to another character and I even managed to fight
an enemy which worked fine(black screen swithced to battle area and then back to black screen). When I first walk in it briefly shows that whole house like it should look before going back to black screen. Any help would be appreciated.

Using the P.E.Op.S Software Plugin in this case would solve your problem.
