chrono cross not working

in chrono cross, after a battle the game freezes. the music keeps playing, but the video and input stopped. this only started happening to me when i got into the hydra marshes. i'm using the 7502 bios and pete's soft driver for video. this happened to me in both versions 1.2.0 and 1.4.0. if anyone can help, my email's posted.

F7...

Pressing F7 can be fun and entertaining...

Meaning smash the F7 key OVER AND OVER (once works well also) until the game returns to functional happy mode.
