Run ePSXe 1.6.0 with the -noauto command line extension.
Or use 1.5.2
Try lowering the frame buffer access thingy.
Wait, does the whole game slow down or just the music oO?

will -noauto have a bad effect on any other games? (what does it do anyway)

EDIT

Yeah it looks like the whole game slows down in the menu. my fps dropped between 48-51
I had similar problem. Just change frame buffer access to "reads" or "moves" (forgot which one) instead of "reads & moves". (I'm assuming you are using "reads and mvoes" :p)

Don't know. I just use 1.5.2 for everything anyway
well -noauto didnt really do anything.. it just keept my fps at a steady 51 instead of it bouncing around. Maybe i ts the fact that im using opengl2 , i was able to fix it with opengl but i dont like changing options back and forth cuz i use opengl for ff7
Things to try:
enabling 'no render-to-texture'
enabling 'use Pixel shader for PSX texture window emulation'
Damn it made it worse :( The fps dropped to 38 now
If you need different plugins for different games, consider using a frontend like ePSXecutor or Delta, they let you create different configs for each game, and automatically load them whenever you select that particular game.
What I meant was for you to trythem seperate from each other. Sometimes they speed it up, sometimes they slow it down. It depends on the strengths of the card.
holy crap i just fixed it, it had something to do with Y resolution being set Very High, i just took it down to high and it keept the fps steady in the menu at 59.9 oO
What I do Chrono Cross for 1.5.2 is just use ordinary default (Nice) setting w/ even-odd box checked, then use OpenGL 2 .

Notice: 1 or 2 of the CCross NTSU-US PAL versions on the web are glitchy. SPEC error are frequent. So dont use Caetla codes, or codes that have more than a few codes at a time. following these steps, my Chrono Cross works just fine and pretty good.
I forgot to mention that the menu issue can get worse if u tweak w/ the graphical settings too much, most people dont know exactly what to do....there was another post I saw in which u can get the settings for chrono cross.
Even better advice would be to not use any version of Chrono Cross found on the Internet ;). Just to let you know, next time edit your previous post instead of double posting.
