I couldn't find any related Chrono Cross topics, so.. here goes.

I burned my CC disk into an ISO. I tried to load it on ePSXe 1.6, it freezes up the instant I select to load. I try it on 1.5.2, the exact same problem occurs.

So I try playing it via the CD (which I do not want to do because of the loading). Up until I select New Game on either version of ePSXe, it works fine - and then it won't load any further.

Can anyone please help identify the problem? Also, I read some sort of '-noauto' command. Where and how would I enter that, if I need to later?

  • Does it work directly from the disc?
  • What app did you use to make the ISO?

Quoting from the original post: "So I try playing it via the CD (which I do not want to do because of the loading). Up until I select New Game on either version of ePSXe, it works fine - and then it won't load any further."

:p So yeah, it does work up until that point. The ISO doesn't even load at all. But even if I could play the CD, I really, really don't want to play it that way.

I used WinISO to make the ISO.

Sorry, I have a tendancy to skim posts and occasionaly miss information.
Right. Try
  • Remaking the ISO with CloneCD
  • Using different CD plugins (It does affect ISO reading too). I'd suggest Xeven's or PEOPs

Create a shortcut to ePSXe and at the end of the target box add ' -noauto'

Thanks. Also, the sound is kind of off-ish. Any suggestions?

Direct Sound
Buffer Size: 22
SPUasync
Aysnc mode: Smooth

Edit: Hn. I fixed the slowdown that came from people speaking. But whenever I hit triangle or bring up the item menu there is this great slowdown of sound and slight static-y sound that comes from my speakers.

default on the Eternal plugin works great in my experience.

anyway, failing that, try turning off or at least down the filtering settings (like 4). i found that on my FX5600 i'd get slowdown in RPG menus when filtering was at 6 (weird i know)
