Hi yall. I just finished my Street Figher Alpha 3 cabinet. It's running the original cps2 USA version of SFA3, although I had Razoola from cps2shock modify the roms so that they would work without the suicide battery.
The cabinet was originally a Data East cabinet used for a cheap SFII rip-off called Fighter's Destiny. Here are the modifications I made:
- new sfa3 marquee from http://www.classicarcadegrafix.com/
- black bezel with original instruction and move list inserts attached
- new plexiglass coverings for monitor and marquee
- new 2.1 Creative T3000 speaker system
- removed coin door and installed subwoofer in its place
- rerouted the port of the subwoofer to the front of the cabinet using pvc pipe (notice the white part near the bottom)
- added two buttons in coin door area for inserting coins
- new joysticks and buttons from http://www.x-arcade.com/
- new Capcom control panel overlay from http://www.classicarcadegrafix.com/
- new lock for back panel of cabinet
- some rewiring on the inside of the cabinet
Altogether, this was a really fun project. The cabinet plays and sounds amazing.
