Posting this on behalf of a friend, will appreciate any inputs. :)

His P4 Centrino occasionally turns off without warning. This is with a power source plugged in. Apparantly it has happened more often under heavy processor load, but it did occur a few times under light applications as well.
On the day this started occuring the internet connection wasnt plugged in.

Other odd things:
His computer sometimes display a message saying that his virus scanner has just been succesfully installed. This was installed long ago.
Some error blogs appear randomly.

Any ideas?
Many thanks.

Virus scans have returned nothing so far...
Hmm I thought intel chips of this generation are able to slow their processing speeds as temperatures increase, thus not needing to shut down? If that is not the case then Ill definately have my fan check on his cooling system.

As for his laptop, it has not been opened before.

Thanks for the suggestions, I will inform you all of the problem when found. :)
