CD burning

Ok , I had a cd burner that was a mitsumi 48 model something and it died. It was under warranty so they replaced it with a mitsumi cr 4848TE 16x8x40. I was using Adaptect Easy Creator 4 that came with my computer, now it tells me that my recorder is not supported. Also using CDRWIN v.4. I have tried udating aec4 to version 4.05, still does not work. I guess what I am asking is does anyone have the same drive or know if aec5 will work with my drive, before I spend the money to upgrade? The roxio web site does not list my drive as one that is compatiable.wtf

Now this is where it gets confusing for me......
Under the device manager it list my drive as a HP cd writer cd16f, but on the drive it is listed as a Mitsumi????????
Not only that I have been to both HP and Mitsumi web sites and neither has any information on either model.
Can somebody help me?

I've got that cd writer and I also have the cdrwin problem (it says its not supported)
But its picked up as a mitsumi ...see pics
I recomend you use clonecd it works fine with that ...
Oh and if you want a cd writing prog that works for burning files etc use winoncd as that works(ed) fine with mine before I upgraded to xp anyway....
The model# on the drive is cr4848TE is yours the same?
this is how it shows on my computer.
Is there a way to change the name of the drive to where the computer see's it as a mitsumi instead of an HP? If my drive cr4848TE is the same as a cr48x8TE then it is supported. I don't have any idea if that is the problem, but seems to me that the software is looking at the name of the drive and if it's listed as something that is not supported then listing it as one that is would fix my problem(that is if the drive is the same).
why dont you try to uninstall it and reinstall it from scratch?
The drive or the software?
Reinstalled both the software and the drive still the same problems. Let me ask this then, does anyone use adaptect easy cd creator 5 and like it?

I've used the Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 software and I don't really like it. It is just way too restrictive for my tastes. I hate the way it won't let me burn over the network (can't determine speed) and by default it images the CD before burning, taking up time as well as 700 MB of hard drive space everytime I burn something. It also does an extensive test speed with every source devices, which usually takes around half an hour or so. I prefer Nero, much more flexible and powerful, and also easier to use.
What version of Nero are you using and what burner do you have that might help me decide if I want to use it or not. Thanks.
