Cannot start FF8 anymore without using savestates

831 Views 4 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  LordTerrin
Hey... When I first started to play ff8, I could (obviously) START the game just by using the normal controls, ( O button, or start key.) But now that I've used savestates, I can no longer START the game, (get to the new game/continue screen) anymore. Any ideas on this?

My main reason for wanting to start from saves is becuase I heard that's the only way I would be able to see the MDECs. As of now, whenever an mdec comes up, all I see is a gray box that fills the screen. I'm missing out!!!!!!! :)

help??

No you don't need savestates just to enable MDECs... you can enable them in ePSXecutor, or do the following (if you're comfortable editing registry n' stuff):

1. Run regedit
2. Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\epsxe\config
3. Make sure "MdecEnabled" is set to "0" and "MdecTiming" is set to "1"

voila... that should do the trick.
yeah, those are both set correctly....... Often, i can see the characters sometimes INSIDE the mdecs, but only the rendered characters, (the ones that move around the console.. not the movie characters.) Man this sucks! The movies are like the best part of ff8. Someone help :)

Press F4, F4 or F5 then F4 when ingame.. Then try and press start or the "o" button.. It's probably your savestates that are causing the mdec problems.. A normal load from a memcard should fix it..
oh great. That worked. Thanks a lot
