Everytime I try to install C#2008Express it gets to the point where it's installing the Visual C++ Runtime Pre-Requisites and it gives me the following error:
.

I've searched google for a solution, but I couldn't find one. I found a few people having the problem, but no solutions.

This is the off-line install version (the dvd iso version), not the web-based one. (I downloaded it somewhere else as I don't have a decent connection atm). I've also tried installing the VB and C++ versions on there an I get the same error. It installs fine on Windows 7 though, but I want to use it on XP. :S

Any ideas?

I've finally found the solution to my problem. Somehow the windows installer (msiexec.exe) became corrupt and I had to replace it with the one on the WinXP CD. Now I feel stupid for wasting 10 hours trying every other possible solution.

Grrr. What happened to automatic doublepost merging?

I know what´s the problem... the reason for that is that somehow you got a error on your registry and it can´t install the required stuff... to solve that problem make a
Windows update or just install .net framework 3.5 before you start the setup.
