Hey guys.

So in the not to distant future I am going to be building my own PC.

I have built them before so I don't need any help there. My question is more aimed at what hardware you would reccomend.

The components I will need are :

Case (With blue neon lights preferably :))

Motherboard (that can handle at least 8gb of ram (DDR3 Only) (also that supports overclocking, at least 6usb ports if possible I could get away with 4 if not)

Quad core cpu (that can be overclocked to at least 3ghz)

Either a 512mb or 1gb graphics card that has a high clock speed also (nvidia or ati, i am open to suggestions).

And a PSU to handle it all. (must be quiet, noisy fans do my head in)

I already have a 5.1 sound card and a n range usb wireless dongle so I'm not bothered about buying them again :p I also have speakers, a monitor, keyboard and mouse etc.

Budget

I will be buying this in stages so this doesn't really matter but I would like to keep the budget under €700 if possible.

Thanks so much for any feedback.

Your budget is blown already.

I know that 700 US dollars is easily enough to make a decent build, I don't know what type of currency you have though. I suggest waiting until September 10th when ATI starts rolling out their DX11 cards, even if you don't want one, there will probably be lots of huge price cuts to the current line of ATI cards, and if you are a Nvidia fanboy, then it is still all good since Nvidia will probably price cut as well, or announce there dx11 cards so they can stay competitive.

nvidia don't have to price cut when they have cards that crush ati's in every way.

more like if they drop prices they would lose money for each card sold.

They are using the same graphic cards for 3 generation so they can fool ppl to buy them.

he's talking about only 4870, 4870X2 and 4890 can compete with GTX260 (216) and up, but they are more expensive, performace:money racio won't be as good.
Bellow thid high end, you will see that ati is winning against nvidia since it has better performance or equal on pc games and lower prices, nvidia was rebranding for 3 generatioons since 8800 till GTS250.

ATI has hardware faults that require them to limit the max performance of games.

yeah even only phenom II if paired ddr3 will show it peformance (its booting vista very fast) u can tweak ddr3 in bios @1600 for more speed

(at benchmark phenomII+DDR3 get second position under corei7 <<more cheaper way to feel ddr3 speed)
