You can use recompiler if you are using a save. It doesn't matter, and is faster.
But don't use VUrecs, they mess the graphics.
To load a save the best way is to use PEOPS SPU2 plugin. And 'hear' the menu. You can hear if the save works or not. And sound is full compatible with this game. So don't worry about patches
