Hey guys. I'm pretty new at these boards and at Bit Torrent, so I'm not sure if this is where to post this, but I'll give it a shot. Basically, I've been using Bit Torrent lately to get some files, but I've run into some problems. Well, more like frustrations really. When downloading things, I've noticed that I just can't get files from some peers. What's frustrating is that I can see some people with 100% of the files (who I assume are seeding), and yet Bit Torrent almost never downloads the files from them for me. What gives? I've got some files downloading at 0kbs right now, and I go and look at the peers, and I'm staring straight at three guys with 100% that I'm not downloading from. Is there anything I can do to force download from them? Thanks!

well the problem here is peer ratios
you need to make sure there arent 1000 people leeching with you
if thats the case than thos 3 people dont have the bandwidth to support everyone, and other people will be "in-line" in front of you
also check your router settings and make sure you dont have a firewall turned on

I think Your problem is somethin other... What BT client are You using? If Bittornado, tell us what colour of the big circle dot thingie do You have. If it is yellow then it means You are firewalled and cannot connect to every peer available. If You have a router then try forwarding ports from 6881-6889.

Well, I'm pretty sure its something else too. I'm just using the regular Bit Torrent client (default one I guess). I've already done the port forwarding, quite awhile back actually, so I don't think that's a problem. But its frustrating because as far as the files go, there's only 2-4 people sharing at any given time, so when I see one person with 100% and I'm not downloading from them I'm not sure what's going on.

Mmmm............do you change the TCP connection from 10 to 50 or 100? Since service pack 2 is out for windows xp, microsoft have limited the tcp connection to 10 and many p2p program like bit torrent is slow down since it cannot receive more connection than 10. Another reason is the Internet Service Provider(ISP) is limiting your bit torrent speed to 0kb.

I've used azureus behind incorrectly configured firewalls before, so you can try that. As long as there are enough seeders you should be fine.
