hello

first of all, praise be to the author of this pcsx2 thing. now i can finally play games on PC!

now to the problem:

i have a 3.0 ghz intel core 2 duo with 4 gb ram ddr2 (that will soon be mended:emb:) with an ATI Radeon HD 4670.

im trying to play dynasty warriors 3 on pcsx2. so, everything is perfect. the FMV, sound, controls, everything! it all runs steady at 60 fps.

...then i start the battle. as SOON as i look at a group of 5 or more soldiers or far into the horizon, my speed drops from steady cheesy 60 to as low as 20 or 25 fps. then, as soon as i turn to empty part of the battlefield, KABOOM! again 60.

ive tried tinkering with the config menu so much, ive been able to get 140 fps on watching open terrain! but then, as soon as a group of soldiers gets on my screen it drops again to 25 or 30.

nuff said, its horrible to play so slowly. got the latest version btw (unfortunately the beta wont start), so got ver. 0.9.6.

messed with the speedhacks, and nothing. went to software mode to use both CPU's (i think i configured it correctly) but still nothing. damn.

can someone help me out plz? thanks in advance.

Other than speedhacks I don't know what else you'll be able to do. Are you running the emulator on DX10? I've never tried the game myself as I don't have it, maybe someone else can shed some light on whether its an issue with the game just not running well in the emulator at this point.

actually im running the game on XP, so im only allowed to get to DX9

i will now proceed to look for any kind of way to make DX10 for xp. ive seen somewhere that you can do it, but hell. i got nothing to lose.

thanks

If you want to infect your computer with a virus trying to download a "DX10 for Windows XP" then go ahead and give it a shot.

All the claims of DX10 for XP are fake, and you're just wasting your time with that.

yeah i was trying to look for the dx10 but all i got instead was the update of my 9.0c dx.

btw, it didnt solve anything. here are my thoughts.

_lack of processing power is my main guess. but i just dont think it could be that. 6ghz total with 4 gig ram? and a 512mb ati card? very doubtful.

this leads me to:

_perhaps the plugin is the problem. from what i understand its the video plugin that is not allowing for the full power of my cpu to take part in the game. in other words, the plugin can process the information, but it cant process it fast enough.

so, anyone know where i can get maybe the latest plugin or even beta plugin?

um... whats SVN stand for?:p

also, that option, the VU hack, well, i tried it and to put it bluntly...

no words to describe it really.

i set it, say, to half, and the framerate goes up to 55 60 ish, but the game screen slows to like 1fps or something. what in ****s?

well what do you expect an high polygon count game to do, heck dynasty warriors on pc, all of them, struggle with a large numbers on screen but then you can choose settings to lower the detail speed it up....

but what you are trying to do is run a game optimised for another hardware and yest there are games pcsx2 struggle with like high polygun count

Actually I have an Amd semprom 1.8 GHz 1 core

nvidia Ge force Go 6150

and still am able tu run Marvel Vs Capcom 2 PAL up to 50 FPS

just download the newest version of PCSX2 0.9.7

and enable all speed hacks in it

and also remember to change the internal resolution of the Gsdx plugin to

256 x 256 this will boost your FPS

the link of the newest Pcsx2 0.9.7 emulator is:

http://www.mediafire.com/orleans

cheers:lol:

just_in_deed: I see you have been spamming this all over. Sigh.

The game actually does slow down even on the PS2, so I won't be surprised if it affects PCSX2 in a more drastic manner. The geometry speedhack if I'm not mistaken will attempt to accelerate rendering of same object models. Also try native resolution and see whether that boosts speed or not.

Another good tip would be to invest in Win7, the performance/visual gain from going to DX10 would be good for you.

DinJerr I'm not spamming

the new pcsx2 0.9.7 revision has a new option that is clamping mode

and the gsdx 256 x 256 internal resolution does boost your FPS It worked for me

just take a look on my pc aspecs

I'm able to play marvel vs capcom 2 up to 50 FPS

when I say internal resolution I don't mean the window size but the internal resolution instead
