project64 and 1964 imo.
i downloaded project64 and it seems to run fairly well. haven't tried 1964, if im not mistaken, it's outdated isnt it?
which of the two has better compatibility?
They're really equal, being both based on Zilmar's plugin spec. Cpu core is basically perfected in both, with major issues really lying in graphics and sound plugins. I personally prefer PJ64 with Rice's plugin & D3D Pixel Shader combiner, Jabo's Audio, and NRage's input. PJ64 just had a major new release after much silence and supposed death.. 1.6 is fabulous. 1964 0.9.9 was released on Jan 3 of this year, so it's not outdated by any means. Both incredible emulators, the two very best.

Due to the heavy optimization of 1964's Dynarec core, it's typically faster than PJ64, but if you have a 1.2GHz+ system, that shouldn't matter. :)
personally i prefer pj64 since it's last update. Seems a bit more stable and more compatible. Using both would be best since one often does better than the other in certain games.
i used to use 1964, but ironically, when the newest version of 1964 came out, i switched to PJ64. theyare both excellent emulators. to play a lot of games though, you're gonna have to switch back and forth between emulators and plugins (thats what i do anyway). so keep em both at the ready ;)

Same here. I find myself using PJ64 more often than 1964 ever since 1.6 was released but I'm not really sure why :p.
having now tried both i can say that pj64 is the more stable emu for my system, though i do like the 1964 interface. it seems like good advice to keep them both around :D .

Thanks for the help everyone:thumb:
