This is just a quick question to pass the time and I reckon I probably already know the answer, but I was wondering, since the PS2 plays like 99.999% of PS1 games (I think one game doesn't work lol), will the PCSX2 play PS1 games as well? When it's "finished" that is (For lack of a better term).

And if so, has anyone tried playing a PS1 game on the current builds?

Disclamer: This is out of curiosity, I'm well aware of PS1 emulators.

I thought that the PS2's hardware was sort of built around the PS1 hardware? And that was why the PS2 only had 2 Controller ports, because if it had 4, it wouldn't play PS1 games or something.
I'm really not sure, I just vaugely remember reading something like that somewhere.

Well I didn't mean it like a sort of PS1 with bits added, I meant it pretty much like Kane said, certain components being designed to be compattible with the PS1 and stuff

EDIT: And just to reiterate, I read this somewhere a long time ago so dun blame me >_>
