The only problem is that with the latest adrenaline feature update they scewed over a lot of rx580 users due to some bugs in wattman, tech support forums had been flooding with rx 580 users with issues, especially ones that got their cards on Christmas lol.

I'd be nice if AMD during their last month of the year feature update wouldn't screw over one of their cards, last year it was me who they victimized, took them a few months for their drivers to work properly for my card again...

Crappy timing lol, but I remember their driver last year stuffing up netflix streaming for my nano, but they were fairly quick in getting that sorted. They've come a long way and seem to be listening intently with the community.

Oh yeah mostly they did come a long way, their drivers have improved considerably to the past, they do screw up with the last year feature update but it usually gets fixed early during the next year, and during the year drivers work quite good. I also came to like relive more then shadow play, and the fact that i can dissable features i dont use and how clean and without bloat the interface is, its a big plus for me.

That and the fact that the Sapphire nitro+ is one of the sexiest looking cards on the market :p.

The Sapphire Nitro+ cards are quite stylish, and have a nice backlit logo that can have customized colors.
One thing I have a problem with is the backplates' colors: they are gaudy and don't match the design of the shroud

It would do much better with dark grey/dark blue instead of the normal white in places. Kind of an odd design choice.
I guess it doesn't really matter, as long as the gpu works well, and Sapphire cards tend to have the better Radeon chips from AMD than other manufacturers, like Powercolor, Gigabyte and XFX just to name a few.

AMD unveiled a new GPU at the 2019 CES: The radeon VII.

It's a high range GPU which seems to be nearly on-par with the RTX 2080 performance wise. In the program:
  • 7nm lithography Process ( 12nm for the RTX series )
  • 16GB HBM2 ( 8GB GDDR6 for RTX 2080 )
  • $699 ( $799 for the RTX 2080 )

Technology Electronics

Of course, it doesn't support Raytracing and DLSS. I hope AMD doesn't finish last like the last time about creative technologies ( PhysX, anyone ? ). They need to get back in the game with something interesting, and things like tressFx aren't really that exciting.

Well, the release Date is the 7 february. Here is a comparison benchmark with the Vega 64: https://www.pcgamer.com/heres-a-look-at-amds-own-radeon-vii-benchmarks-for-25-games

It's a die shrunk version of Vega, nothing to really get excited about, it's Navi that we need to be mindful for, but she ain't ready yet.

This is a big WTF when it comes to pricing and offering, either them using their contract to use the nodes and recoup some of the R&D costs, hopefully maturing the fabrication process enough so when the navi comes through there'll be less defects in the production. Either way it's reheated and not really all that wanted.

There's also rumors of nvidia releasing an 1180, a non RTX version of the 2080 which would be far better usage of your money if you want a more affordable card. Jensen can tug himself off all day about RTX, but it's just too early in the game unless you really like Battlefield or running benchmarks.

The price is OK in front of the Nvidia prices, especially if the Radeon VII offers similar performance in games than the 2080. People won't really care it's a die-shrink. The main issue is about the mid-range, low-range tiers and the laptop category. Do they have something to offer with the "7nm advantage" ?

And If the rumors are true with the 11x0 cards, AMD needs to really find something concerning "creative technologies" or to get competitive again in the middle range tier fast. RTX is not as convincing as it should be, but if Nvidia is able to offer a performance boost in front AMD without it and especially with the right price, AMD will start to really be in trouble IMO.

BTW, shouldn't we open a new thread "ATI vs Nvidia ( 2019 )" ?

2060 is the best card in the product stack, it's still expensive for a 60 product, but the fact you can crank the sliders on MSI Afterburner and get it to 2070 levels of performance is amazing.

Only downside is 6gb, textures are bloating again and games like BF5 are not going to like ultra texture settings. But that limitation is deliberate, if the price works and you're gaming on 1080p you're set for a long time.

The rumor about Non-RTX cards seems to get confirmed. That's the middle range which is targeted. It could be called GTX 1660. The main issue is this GTX 1660 is also rumored to be slower than its RTX counterpart ( Yeah, so you would want to buy the RTX version instead...Tsssk...Business, business ).

The real question is, how much is this card slower ?

My GPU is going to have 8GB of VRAM.
That should be enough.

Nvidia: Dude VRAM doesn't matter, check this new tech that makes games have a flashlight effect.
Only supported on our New Flashlight Family of Cards with 12GB of VRAM.

nVidia - RTX brings real time ray tracing and DLSS to the plate.
AMD - So how many games feature this right now? Just three? Expensive gimmick LOL

Currently:
AMD - Radeon 7 comes with 16gb of high bandwidth memory.
nVidia - I heard that costed you $300 of the overall price. How many games actually use that much RAM anyway?
AMD - Shut up, we're future-proofing our cards!
