What this can be?

I've tested 2 Asus CD-400/A drives but neither of them could play psx movies properly.

In ePSXe, bleem! they have green squares in the right part of the screen and even hang emulator. ONLY VGS can usually play STRs properly. Such programs as PSXPlay don't work too!

Wasn't there a thread on this already? If I recall correctly the drive is crap when it comes to psx disks. Change the drive.

Make sure you don't switch to an A-open drive cause they're bad for PSX CDs also.

you mean the regular aopen cd readers?
mine works just fine.....

Hmm I guess I was wrong(there's always a first time). I could have sworn that someone had that exact same problem with an aopen drive a while back. Maybe it turned out to something different.

my aopen drive is a somewhat older 40x....maybe only the newer ones suffer?..or was it a cdrw drive?

i think adair might be refering to one of my posts.
i recomended that people avoid acer parts because of how bad they are built(acer changed its name to a-open correct?). ive had problams with all acer parts that ive had so i had to advise against them.

use TEAC cdrom Drives!!!!!

The only serious CDRom drivers ever made by human kind was only TEAC. I have this 32x TEAC cdrom and NEVER had any problems for the last 2,5 years - closing to 3 years now

even the 'man of Plugins' - Pete Bernett, get the idea of making a CDROM plugin for ePSXe from a TEAC Drive

I ant got no problems with my
CD-ROM Drive 52X AOpen Internal ATAP

It even works good with clone cd

And in epsxe videos play good but
some times Thay will not stop playing
and my gravis usb game pads stop working

VCDs work good on it

I have had every type of CD-ROM mess-up up
in most the CD tray locks up or weres out

i got asus s/500 and its the only cdrom that last for a long time i got no pb w/ this

i guess it only goes for certain models then....
many drives from the same brand are completely different internal, while they look the same on the outside....
