I opened a can of "generic" peanut butter tonight, as I enjoy a gob every now and again *does wonders for the heart! Twisted Evil * and lo and behold on the label "Warning contains peanuts" oO

Ok, who didn't know Peanut butter does contain Peanuts? :???:

BTW it wasn't copied in Spanish, were they trying to kill Spanish reading immigrants? :dead:

Yes folks, Peanut butter has Peanuts... BTW, Milk is a dairy Product!

It's not for the sake of the stupid people so that they don't get themselves killed. It's to protect companies from people who think who want to abuse the system and sue the hell out of the first one who isn't smart enough to stick as many warnings as possible in their products. Blame our civil justice system.

didn't someone sue McDonalds for millions because they spilled hot coffee on themselves, and there was no 'warning' that the coffee was hot?

its ridiculous that people can sue for such nonsense, but even more ridiculous that they actually win their cases.

Well now days with so many synthetic, derived or alternative products, whats to say its not something else.

Perhaps PeaNoot(TM) Butter made from tofu with synthetic coloring and flavoring, yet with only 2 calories per serving!! :p

You really have to wonder if some of these warnings are necessary, though. Consider this one:

"Do not eat if seal is missing."

You usually see this warning on the seal itself and nowhere else.

What's the point? The only time that the warning could come in handy is when you DON'T see it! But if you don't see it, then what's stopping you from eating the contents, getting sick, and suing because of it?

-'The warning's on the seal.'
-But the seal wasn't there so I couldn't see it!
-'You're supposed to know that the seal should be there.'
-Like you're supposed to know that hot coffee is hot and knives are sharp? Yet there are still warning labels for those things, aren't there?

...

Quick, someone find a jar of peanut butter with no seal! I'm gonna be rich!

Speaking of ridiculous warning labels:

I think some people are stupid enough that they should have a warning label on themselves informing us of that fact.

it may not be similar but i find it incredibly stupid are the terms and conditions of warraties, especially of late (and especially computer parts), they are like impossible to follow at times (with restriction and another restriction applied to it plus another restriction applied to it again and again), and retailers trying to avoid responsibility of the warranties and try to pass it on the manufacturer or supplier...

they are so bad that if buy something for $50, it will cost another $50 minimum to just get it replaced and even then its up to the manufacturer/supplier to decide to give a refund or replacement.... thats why i avoid buying things online, especially ebay like when i lost $120 when i tried to claim a refund on faulty product the seller removes his account and ebay cant do anything about it because the seller was using false details and id to create the account

I would agree on that, but it is as obvious as that peanut warning seems.

Also:

WARNING: Illegally downloading software is illegal.

Please stop illegally downloading software right now.

On another thought, maybe a kill on sight warning would be not bad.

Warning: Poison Ivy may cause an uncontrollable outbreak of itching, irritation, rashes, and blisters..

Yeah I expect disclaimers to be put on everything in the near future, even something as natural as poison ivy in the wilderness.

I think we need the government to protect us from everything, including ourselves.

Infact i can't even wipe myself properly without risking tearing out my rectum.

This is true. The "warning: hot" label came after someone sued McDonalds after spilling hot coffee on tier laps.

Oddly enough, cold drinks have yet to get "Warning: Cold" on them, there is a lawsuit possibility here. Maybe they should even consider adding "Warning: Liquid Beverages may be wet".

There is more to this case than people think. McDonald's actually was negligent. They had dozens of small claims over their coffe, which was about 20 degrees hotter than most restaurants serve. They ignored the problem until an 81 year old woman got severely burned.
