For PC to be more specific. NFS UC sucks hard (I give it 6/10, even though I really like MW and that was supposed to be sorta MW II). So the last big release which I really enjoyed was BurnOut Paradise, which was way back in Jan.

It's probably just me not keeping in touch with this genre, but are there any good titles out recently (I'm talking about arcade or at least semi-arcade style, I don't like sims)? I've been on FPS fodder for too long now and could really do with a break.

Shift came out? oO Wow I really need to keep in touch with the racing world.

@strike: I didn't like GRID at all, the camera view in it was killing me!

@spy: Well there's the AE86 in that game to so i'm getting it to XD, just don't know what to say until it arrives though you certainly made things litter for me a friend of mine said it sucked and the comments on it are rather rash though seeing one good comment on it made me cheer up a little :p.

@GF: there's a camera changing button :p, anyway sorry it isn't your thing for me its epic :p.

Yep. Need For Speed Shift is IMO about the most you can go up to for PC. GRID would also be a good contender.

There's only one thing I don't quite... applaud about NFS Shift is that it tries to follow in Gran Turismo footsteps. Aside from the controls and the feel of the car, the game feels like it's almost a copy of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue on PC but with slightly better graphics, a bit more cars, more customizations, and so on... Not necessarily bad, but it's just a bit obvious. Even the c0ckpit view is obvious.

But that's just to say... it seems likely that racing fans love the direction Gran Turismo goes in. Too bad Polyphony is Sony exclusive. Gran Turismo 5 on PC would have owned so bad...

It's like GT for PC? MUST HAVE! I've been dreaming of a GT4 port for PC, but an alternative doesn't sound like a bad deal either.

@strike: Yes I am aware of the presence of a camera view change button oO....but the problem is none of the views suit me. I like the camera to be facing the back of the car and be far from it, so I can see more of the car's surroundings.

Yep. It's like GT for PC. But don't expect to havecars as detailed or realistic. Then again, I doubt you'll care if the car you are driving does not feel realistic. :p

I'm just waiting for GT5 full version to have that headtracking feature in ****pit to complete the experience!

Except there's far less variety in cars, it's just all Touring and Le-Mans class cars and of course those extremely popular (perhaps 2 years ago but I would say it's more than sufficiently killed by now...pity no one has realized) J-Tuners.

As for what's upcoming...well Split/Second...basically an Action Stunt Racer...and then Blur, an arcade racer with powerups BUT it's made by the guys behind PGR so it could be good.

My favorite racing game so far is forza 2, but thats on xbox360, i wish it would come to pc. Forza 3 should be out in a month or 2 though, ill be getting that.

I just got shift yesterday, it plays a bit like forza, but doesnt feel as real. Plus the customization is significantly less, which in my opinion, is the funnest part of the game :p

Screw all those other racing games. Viper Racing is still excellent even today.

:rotflmao: you even put on the little fur ball anime guy decel for gamefreak. Well done

Gamefreak, Grid 2 is coming to pc eventually. Perhaps they will iron out the issues you don't like

Perhaps your going to have to get a console gamefreak, the pc racing genre is only getting multiplatform titles now days.

Both those old games have too many holes where you can go flying out of the game and esentially end up in a no-mans land.

I only rarely encountered such bugs. And all of them occurred only when I tried something really wacky like jumping off the top of a skyscraper or something.
