Hello!

Im trying to use ePSXe on my computer... i tried several setups but couldnt get a good speed on all of them.... any suggestions?


My computer is:

Athlon 1 Ghz
128 Mbs Ram
8Mb AGP ATI All in Wonder PRO
Crystal sound card
DirectX 8


with most of plugins im unable to get more than 30fps .... onlythe software gpu's work at higher speed but there r too much slowdown....

you could try disabling vsync, but it sounds like your card has maxed its fillrate out. you'er going to need a better graphic card. Otherwise, the software renderer will be faster. (old riva128 users are probably suffering the same problem too)

you need a better one to fit your 1g athlon.
gForce series or radeon recommended

Athlon T-Bird 1.2ghz and GEForce 2 GTS here. Full frames in every game and no slow downs. Time for a new Video card. "Nuff said.

You'll still be in the same boat if you couple a TNT-2 with a 1Ghz system. Get a Geforce 2 GTS if you own a 1Ghz system or Faster. These are the best cards to use, given their overall popularity, and performance. You will not regret it.

hmm...is it a MUST?
Why not GeForce 2 MX?
What's the difference between MX and GTS? because I found that MX is pretty much cheaper than GTS, its around $59?

The geforce 2 MX's performance maxes out around 800Mhz, after this the CPU has to wait on the card. The Geforce 2 GTS, Pro, Ultra and Geforce 3 are better suited for faster processors because a processor doesn't exist yet to max out their Fill-rates. This is why these cards are also better suited for FSAA, since they have power to spare.

the GF2mx chip is a lite version of the gf2 one. 2pipelines instead of 4, frequency lowered compared to the gf2 one....etc

Get Geforce2mx or 3, mine specs is only k6 2 500, but Geforce help increase to 50% rendering speed than mine TNT2, M64.

hmmm..thanks for the explanations though I have no idea what to buy and when to buy..., I'm still not sure to buy Geforce 2 GTS since the price is a little bit high

Geforce 3's are going for $150 USD which is a very good price

or spend $66 for a 32MB geforce 2 MX 400 (it's dirt cheap, but you sacrafice some performance)

I have a TNT2, with my 1.2ghz, mainly becuase I'm tight on money and don't have much cash for a GeForce2 (I know they are cheap online in places but I don't trust the interent that much) and I usually get 60fps on all my games.

It's mainly the tightwad problem, I don't get nothing, I mean I don't even get allowence or have a job! Jesus! Ah, and when I do want something I have to consult my mom, in which her answer is either, "no" or "wait untill your birthday, or christmas" ARG!!!!!!!!!!!! I got most of my money for my TNT2 from my aunt, who gives me more money then my mom. And my Aunt has 2 kids, plus is married. Sad, isn't it.

Well I have a Asus V3800 as u can seel below in my system specs.I get 60fps in all games.When I disable frame limiter I get about 70 tp 80 fps.So I think that TNT2 is not a bad deal at all.It is an affordable Solution for 3d prblems.

But when quality come...........nothing beats G-Force

exactlly, plus ePSXe makes the games look at least 3x as good as psx. Hell, Crash 3 looks like it was a DC game!

That GF3 on www.pricewatch.com is not $150. It just says that because PNY put the name GeForce3 in the description of a GF2GTS. The cheapest GF3 on there is $299
