I've had this problem with Windows XP SP1/2. For some reason, when I select a large number of files(like a few hundred), Explorer will crash and close all the folders I had open. Anyone else ran into this? Anyone know a way to fix it?

I've had things like that happen to me with viruses, sometimes spyware. Or you have so little RAM that windows just restarts itself randomly (my mother's computer does that a lot). The error logs might tell you something, such as a particular DLL file that keeps crashing. You can usually pull those off your windows install disc if it's damaged.

Try creating an additional account and performing the same steps.

If it doesn't crash, in the new account that would mean your current account is corrupted.

Are these media files? If so, try unregistering the shmedia library.
