Here's a control setting I thought about for days, and its very useful!!!!!!! But, If I'm plagiarizing, then I would give my deepest apologies to whoever had made up the sequence already. If you are, or know someone who has already created the control sequence, e-mail me.

Anyways, here it goes.....

Triangle=Number Pad 8
Circle=Number Pad 6
Square=Number Pad 4
X=Number Pad 2

R2=Page Up
R1=Page Down
L2=Home
L1=End

Up=Arrow Key, Up
Down=Arrow Key, Down
Left=Arrow Key, Left
Right=Arrow Key, Right

---------------------------------------------

Well, if you have any comments, questions, ideas about this, email me at UMEXSP.

Thanx,
UMEXSP

But u can change them w/ the newest pete s plugin (my, I m always referencing to those ones. o_O they re just excellent)

bye

(BTW, i use all the psx buttons (not the directions digital ones) on the numberpad)

circle=number pad 3
cross=number pad 2
square=number pad 1

L1=number pad 4
R1=number pad 6
L2=number pad 7
R2=number pad 9

start=number pad intro
select=number pad 0 or .

up=arrow key, up
down=arrow key, down

nah... i use joystick for FPS whenever possible, and gamepad for 3rd person games.

Actually keyboard and mouse are dominate for RTS games. plus turn-based games such as golf and board games etc.
mouse would be a good choice for RPGs as well, only that they're not so popular on the computer, except for the Sim- games.

WHAAAAAAAT??? takwu have you ever played a FPS with a mouse? I know you may have other opinions than me, but I find it very odd that would rather use a gamepad. The only time I can see using a gamepad to be better is if the FPS doesn't allow you to look up and down only side to side. I must admit that Goldeneye on N64 was a very well done game pad FPS. I can only assume that you haven't given keyboard&mouse a fair chance. A mouse is about a thousand times easier to aim with. Oh well to each their own. BTW what FPS games have you played?
Please take no offence to this post, I'm just shocked.

P.S. on second thought I can see a flight sim type joystick and a mouse also being a good combo.

no, i said i use _joystick_ for FPS whenever possible.

i use the flightstick type (i had several) plus keyboard usually. and i used it for Quake2 for the longest time. yes it's kinda creepy, and most ppl dont understand, but i do play better with a fine tuned flightstick then a fine tuned mouse. and yes i can aim better too.

btw i meant quake2 deathmatch, never played much single player on that one. i finished Jedi Knight single player with a joystick tho.

i said whenever possible because most FPS dont have very good support for joystick configurations. usually there's no or little deadzone settings, and sometimes no speed setting either. worse case there's no axis mapping, e.g. Quake 3. Quake 2 in contrast has the most comprehensive joystick configs i've seen, even surpassing the Descent series.

and i do use keyboard and mouse on other occasions too. going to a lan party for example. i'd bring my joystick and risk looking funny but end up fragging more than anyone else. but i cant do that every time, in which case i'd switch to keyboard and mouse like the average player, and perform like one ;)

Doh!
Yeah I can see that being a good setup. I need to try that sometime, but I don't know anyone with a joystick and I don't wanna buy one.
And Descent I think was pretty much made with a joystick in mind. I drove myself crazy trying to play Descent 3 with key/mouse. It wasn't impossible, but looking up/down was always the opposite of what I expected. Then I switched the up/down to opposite and still had a hard time. Oh well

When I play a FPS like Quake, I usually set up my Adaptoid (N64 - PC adaptor) for my left hand, using the analogue joystick as move forward, back, and strafe left and right. I use the trigger (Z) button on the N64 pad to shoot. I use the mouse to look around, with the wheel set to cycle through your weapons. I find this a nice setup :)

Interesting. So what do you set the mouse buttons to? I gues with a game like quake all you need is movement and weapon control, but try playing a game like thief or deus ex like that. There's just too many buttons for a controller to be a practical alternative IMO. But I do think the N64 gamepad is much better suited to FPS than the PS gamepad.
