First, it is better to use a CD writer to make an ISO, otherwise you can use a CD reader, but I have experienced sometimes some reading errors with an ISO made with a CD reader instead of my CD writer.
But, there is something more important : you should not enable "DMA" settings in Windows CD settings if you are not sure that your CD reader or writer can handle it. For example, I had enabled it on my Yamaha 8/8/24 IDE writer, and I made some wrong ISOs.
