i used to have acouple of these, how do u activate that active desktop thing.

Do you mean multiple desktops? That's a powertoy you can get from MS' website. Alternatively if you have a graphics card with decent drivers (an nVidia card), they have an option in htere for multiple desktops.

I think he means that thing in Win98/Me etc, where you can set a web item as a wallpaper...

Display Properties > Desktop > Customize Desktop... > Web
