Indeed, done completely in 3D Studio Max 6. Render time of 12 minutes (due to using light tracer / skylight).

It looks good but errr..... cmon it's only 2 eggs with eyes and stuff, how many poly are they?

It's not the number of polys, it's the lighting technique that made the render slow, as I have already explained With a standard light setup it only takes 27 seconds, but looks no where near as good.

Lighting in rendering can be more important than the number of poly's on a model itself.
If you are a really advanced 3D modellor you could turn a half thousand poly render into a sleek BMW (sorry but I saw it on the net somewhere...).

Though lighting has always been known to dramatically increase render times all across the 3D tasks board.

Yeah, I know, but as I model for game I didn't spend much time trying to get a good render with lots of lights, I knew it was slower, but not that much

Certainly did, it's an extremely simple model (and somewhat crude), but some funky lighting and texturing goes along way

For instance, the 'Chris the Pirate Ninja' took 20 mins to model. But then again, 3D max is like 'home' to me, been using it for eons
