A 6600GT typically has higher clock speeds than a 6800, but the 6800 is 256bit...so which one would really win??? My 6600GT isn't giving me ANY problems though...I love it!!!

how much can you oc/unlock the 6800 safely?
just curious...
i unlocked it to full 16 pipes (GT core) and i run quite safely with stock cooling at 380/800 (this is moderate...i know i can go higher) from 325/700.

6800 is faster in about every situation, especially with FSAA and AF where memory bandwidth is truly required, or just in games that hog bandwidth.
People above seem to mix 6800 with 6800LE, which is same speed with 6600GT, but faster with high bandwidth situations and FSAA+AF settings.

quick question
do I get the 6600gt from a reputable company, or get the cheap 6800 from a not so reputabl company

here are the choices 6800 and 6600gt respectively

I have an XFX GeForce 6800.... no problems at all. Great card and graphics. I also have an MSI GeForce 6600GT which I overclocked to good speeds. But then again the MSI GeForce 6600GT i have comes with cables for S-Video to HDTV. the 6800 i think comes with S-Video to S-Video cables, but I don't remember. But its kool because you can play Halo PC on your TV. And run the emus and stuff. Really neat. But get the 6800, that other stuff can wait ;)

And why we're thinking about Halo, the Master Chief says Hi on my 6600 GT in 1280x1024. The image may look distorted because its a .JPEG thats been saved in paint. Also, I dont have any filtering on in this shot. And, this is a screenshot I took in Halo Custom Edition, which has better shaders and less lag.

ChrisRay I'd like to see a pretty shot from your NVidia SLI if you dont mind :) .

Also, XxCrashxX, if you have a mobo that is a couple years old (Still uses SD-RAM like mine) you should be aware that you may have to increase the AGP Driving Rate in your BIOS to a specific setting so things will work and look right.

Another Screen I took. This one supposedly has ripped content from Halo 2. Somebody made the level tho. Some of the models and sounds and textures are copyright Bungie. This really gives you a feel for how well Halo 2 will look on PC :p. And, no, this ISNT Halo 2 PC. Once again, a JPEG, no filtering, 6600GT, and 1280x1024.

If you want to save some money, get the 6600GT. It can be overclocked amazingly fast. I have mine running at:

It's an outstanding card, but the 6800 is of course better. Your still getting alot with the 6600GT. I leave it up to you ;) . and yes, yes i know the two checkboxes arent checked in my settings, they are now.

how were you able to unlock the pipelines in the 6800 gt and is it possible in the 6600 gt? or just 6800

its not possible with the 6600GT because it has no pipelines to unlock. its possible with the 6800nu because it has 12 pipelines enabled (unlike the 6800GT's 16). i just used rivatuner to unlock it.
