42" LCD Widescreen TV as Monitor......

Well, Cid suggested it so here goes....(not the TV, the thread)

I'm getting a new monitor for my Super Build and I want it to be as BIG as possible because using this Trinitron as my monitor I have goten used to Big Icons...and I like the size of it.....Very easy on the eyes... (at least to me)

I had this TV in mind and was wondering whether any of you users have personal experience with this TV and can shed some light on it....

And Furthurmore is it a strain on your vision - not that I wanna know....

Would I be throwing my moneyt awway here? or is this a solid purchase..

Thanks mate....

That's wahat I'm gonna do/usually do....

I gotta get more compatible RAM next and then perhaps a GTX 280 later if they come down more in price....
Nope, and perhaps we're jumping ahead, but in June/May when I get it that's what my next big post will be about....

Which card to get???? The GTX 285/GTX 295/GTX 280 etc.....

I figure once I get the tV outtta the way, it should take me til October to save enough cash for a cheap GTX 280 or equivilant....and by then they should be almost affordable....

But let's not get ahead of ourselves here....:eyemove::eyemove::eyemove::eyemove:
If you wanted to buy a tv in June then why are you asking about it in March?

Well I got a little money, but that E8600 was a big purchase for me - will be paying off for 2 years...

On top of the payments currently I only got 60.00 free/month, so technically that makes me poor, or at least not as rich as some of you fine folks...

ok you got me there....maybe just "less rich" so to speak....

can't have everything I need right away...that's all

Nothing personal....
And you call yourself poor, get lost:lol:
Now dont be harsh lets make an Ngemu Fund raiser for gameman...

Yeah, we'll hold a telethon!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

HAHAHAHHAHAAA...

Naw. just kidding...

Believe it or not I wouldn't do that to you....

Everything I'll need for this pc to be just right will come eventually - just gotta wait like the rest of you..

I don't kmnow if it'll ever be "perfect" though....

But a 42" monitor with a 3.33 GHZ Chip is pretty close..

Thanlks for the "support".....

Edit: OK I'll admit I'm NOT poor, but I'm hardly rich...I can't just go down to Futureshop and grab a 42" today......

My Credit is in the crapper and I'm still paying for the E8600...

No, I'm not poor, but I still gotta wait... I just wanted some advice /opinions earlier, so I knew whether my money was being spent in vain or it was doable.....or even if it had been done before...

and I got my answer.....

teh pwnage :D
Why do you want such a big TV for a monitor in the first place, are you blind or something. There is an option in windows to increase the font size if you have problem reading them.
And even a small 14" monitor looks big if you sit close enough :p
Seriously, if you are saving money then save for something else which is more productive and makes more sense.

^this post is what we usually call sarcasm oO
Nahh, the big 42" is coming....it's inevitable now...

And I'm not going to officially recommend any of you do this also, but you could hardly go wrong with a 42" TV as your PC Monitor...

those pics by masta g a few pages back should be evidence enough....

and 1366 by 768 is more than adequate... I know, I have seen it TWICE.....

Nah,, you gotta set your sights HIGH..... if you expect to leave any kind of mark on this world....
and 1366 by 768 is more than adequate...
I'm sorry, I just peed my pants with laughter.
Once again, for the hard of hearing IT'S BETTER THAN WHAT I GOT NOW

(640x480)....you're just used to higher cause you're using a tiny little computer monitor.... and I emphasize the word tiny....

Besides there is also 1920 by 1080 available..... That's hardly a ****ty resolution....

Naw, I can handle 1366 by 768 if it's big...it's certainly a step up from either of my two other monitors.....
A 42" tv as a monitor this is going to be classic :rotflmao:

You can get a brilliant samsung 24" for the cost of a tv but no he want a 42" tv as a monitor :rotflmao:

Well good luck with that :rotflmao:

I CANT STOP LAUGHING :rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao::rotflmao:

Believe it or not there mate....SIZE MATTERS......

I realize I'm dealing with sheer CONCRETE here, but like I said, I need a big monitor... I've been using big for 5 months now...I ain't going back to some piddley 24"..... If you don't understand, well then you've obviously never used a big screen as your monitor before...and that is unfortunate...

Nah, I've seen TWO of em and the resolution is more than good enough for me.....I'm still gonna hold out for 1920 by 1080 since it is TRUE HD, but both are acceptable computer screen resolutions...

besides I think the lowest acceptable computer monitor resolution nowadays is 1024 by 768 and in some cases as little as 800 by 600 (TRUE) but that's Vista's and Windows 7's lowest standards.... So at least whatever I get will meet the minimum and then some..... I think I'm getting a good deal... Besides Genuine computer monitors of this size only come in 1366 by 768 anyways so it's literally the same thing.....

I fail to see how I'm making a mistake here....
This is probably the best thing that could possibly happen size wise.....

Cause frankly mate, 24" don't cut it..........:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:
