There's a difference between the "range" of the analog controller.
The XBCD driver, has a workaround for this that works on x86-32 Windows.

To have an idea, draw a circle inside a box. The X360 range is the circle,
the PSX wants the box, and you cannot reach the corners from the circle. =P

As for the D-pad thing, what do you mean? Did you try Last Remnant using both,
analog and digital?

Also, keep in mind that Last Remnant uses Xinput, which is specially designed
for the X360 controller. If it didn't work well there... =_="

As said, of course the X360 will work on that game, since it's ment to work. =_="

Green is the X360 range, the red is what you need. Notice that you cannot
reach the corners, which is why you will walk on that direction.

I was wondering about the D-pad which you said that sometimes doesn't work.
Well, some X360 controllers come with a very crappy D-pad, like mine. Luckly,
that can be fixed easly and ends up being an awesome d-pad.
