1.6 runs perfectly, while 1.7 won't run at all

I've been trying to fix this problem for a while now, but I can't seem to find a thread about this (admitedly I didn't look that carefully).
I can run 1.6 perfectly with the following settings:
BIOS: SCPH1001.BIN
Video: Pete's OpenGL2 Driver 2.8
Sound: ePSXe SPU core 1.5.2.
CDRom: ePSXe CDR WNT/W2K core 1.5.2.

But if I try the same settings in 1.7 (or any setting, as far as i can tell), I can't run any games at all. The 'run-bios' shows up as usual. I've tried a few different video-plugins (P.E.O.p.S Soft Driver 1.17 and Pete's D3D 1.76, OpenGL 1.76 and OpenGL2 2.8) and I've tried disabling the sound and using the Null2 driver. But alas...

If I enable the logger, it all seems to start just fine (it's displays the same stuff as 1.6 as far as I can tell) and the program doesn't crash of anything, it just, sort of...stops. I've included a screenshot whilst trying to run FFVIII (which works with 1.6).

You might wonder why I wan't to run 1.7 when 1.6 works fine, but I would like to play Chrono Cross again, but this time without the annoying sound-issues. With 1.6 i could either get the game to sound good and the video to sound horrible or the other way around (if I remember correctly).

And by the way I'm running Vista32bit, Core2Quad Q6600, GeForce 8800GT and Realtek HD sound...hope you can help :)

do you have DEP enabled?
Sorry, DEP? oO What's that?
Click Here For info on dep and how to disable it

PS:if you are going to disable it completely be sure that you select "run as administrator" for the cmd utility (even if your on the admin account you still have to do this otherwise you risk not disabling dep correctly)
Didn't work :(

The link says that a program will stop completely if it 'violates' the DEP, but mine keeps running. It doesn't freeze og lock up, it just stops doing anything. I can still press escape and exit normally.
DOH! :dead: It acctually WORKS with Chrono Cross! :emb:

I didn't want to bother taking an image of Chrono Cross untill I could get it working with my other games (which I already had iso's of)...sorry for the inconvenience :heh:

Is there an issues with playing PAL-games on a NTSC-bios with 1.7?

Now it's just the usual sound issues, I have to deal with :(

Sound get's distorted once in a while during video and gameplay...but that belongs in a different thread.
