µTorrent: The mother of all BitTorrent Clients.

I've recently discovered this wonderfull BitTorrent client, And had to share the secret. It's one of the best clients i've used, If not the best. It has all the features and whistles of Azureus (Minus the java\slow\unstable\resources usage), Weighs less then 100kB and uses no CPU time and barely any memory.

Has no install so you can throw it wherever you want, And so far, It's pretty well done with all the options ordered well, And the limits\connections working smoothly as possible.

I'm giving a warm recommendation to anyone who wants a very well done BT client to give this one a try. You won't regret it :)

Yeah, you can raise the write cache a bit but usualy dont touch the delay on that. It's doable, not very recommanded though.
utorrent... I guess I'll try that one these days.
Still... After trying Bitcomet (check www.bitcomet.com), I believe it's more interesting for the hardcore "torrenter".

- Support preview video file during downloading
- Smart Disk Cache
- Doesn't require an installation package to work
- and more... Switching, anyone?
I'm assuming you're assigning these attributes to BitComet, correct me if im wrong.

- Support preview video file during downloading
Why does a client need to 'support' it ? just load it in a normal media player.

Uhh, BitComet has an installer, as far as i know.

- Smart Disk Cache
Windows has disk caching and so does any BT client ive used before.

That method won't work with some clients (Azureus, uTorrent) because the client locks writing/reading to the file. If you want to preview a file, you first have to stop downloading the torrent.
Sorry for hijacking this thread for this but maybe it's better than just making a whole new thread for this specific question. Is there a torrent program that will allow me to upload full speed, let's say from 12 AM to 7 AM and then after that I could set up a speed limit? Since other people in my house need the connection, I can't be hogging it all day so anything like that around?
yes actually utorrent has a built in scheduler.

wasnt OT after all ^^
lmao thanks a lot D.D. for the fast and coincendental response
And 1.1.8 should follow soon, Probably with DHT in.
Previously I was using Bittornado, I just trying µTorrent right now.

I'm surprised there's no installer for this program.

In Bittornado there's a yellow circle telling you if your ports are not opened correctly.

How can you tell if all your ports are open in µTorrent?

-If incoming connections were successfully made on the UPnP port, it appends "OK" to this indicator.
-If incoming and outgoing connections seem to be working properly, it displays "Network OK"

And where do I see the network status?
Bottom of the main window, left of the U: and D: indicators.
one little problem with utorrent: if i tweak the maximum connections, it crashes my router. i am forced to leave it at default 200 (i tried 250) whereas with azureus i am able to leave it at unlimited...
nice ^^ thank you ultima528
Finally DHT support
*kisses Azureus goodbye*
*Dies from poison*
utorrent is now in my opinion the best

1.1.7.2 gave me problems with my router when i had too many connections but 1.2 fixed all that. now its faster than before (azureus speeds), i can have even more connections, has more customization and still takes up no more than 14 megs of ram (i set a disk cache of 25 megs). most importantly, it doesnt hog up my internet connection on my router like azureus did : for some reason when im downloading at full speed on my lappy and i use the net on my comp, utorrent's speed decreases as if it knows its not high priority in terms of bandwidth O___O.

overall, utorrent i think has finally become the "mother of bt torrents" even if it doesnt improve any further. at a little over 100kb size (utorrent's "claim to fame"), this little client is amazing and im glad i gave it a chance and swtiched over from the azureus zealot camp.

i give it 10/10 :)

EDIT: i forgot to mention its very customizable and it has a built in easytouse (even i cud use it and i never used one before...) scheduler for setting limited upload/download rates :)

Azureus is past for me too. μtorrent(yes thats a Greek m :p) takes up wayy less memory, cpu, bandwith and has the same or even better speeds than Azureus.Great job to the team, loving this client ;)
µ for 'micro' in greek lettering, i believe.

Just came home, haven't tested 1.2 (but i did have an internal 1.1.8 beta with DHT to play with ;) .

Im happy to hear all of your got your problems fixed. RIP Azureus ? ;p
