For NVIDIA, the 6800 GS is a very good buy, but is slightly over your budget. Otherwise you would have to fall back to 6800/6600GT, which are slower by quite a big margin.

On the ATI side, X800 GTO² is the best deal as it can be unlocked to 16 pipes and perform similar to the X850 parts, outperforming the 6800 GT/X800XL. This card is not to be confused with the X800 GTO, which can't be unlocked AFAIK.

I think Geforce 6800Ultra is best for u why?? oO

video memory = 256/512mb
pipeline = 16
clock = 430
bandwith = 35.4gb
Cinefx 3.0 = Dx 9.0c and Shader model 3.0

and many more features.
I am going to buy this gfx card soon.

the GS looks a really good card, altho it has less pixel pipelines etc, it seems to throw out more performance and give more of a bang for your buck, it seems to be best for that range of card.
if you can afford a bit more the X1800 would perform much better, but thatll cost you an extra £50

the 6800ultra is a massively overpriced card. exactly the reason nvidia dont make them anymore;) Buy one of those and you are a fool. BTW, my gto2 is faster than a 6800ultra :???:

tonyyeb, you made a bad choice there. the gto2 is a seriously fast card and would obliterate a 6600gt sli setup, let alone a single card:(
