vertex\pixel shaders

hi all,

i just want to ask this, could be you guys who experts in this?.
is there any method to play game that required pixel shaders while my AGP
card doesnt support pixel shader (Gforce 2).
i meant is there any software that emulate pixel shader?

Katsuya January 8th, 2004 14:22

No... sorry.

orysyz January 8th, 2004 14:25

i get it,
thanks.

3d analyzer

You cant emulate pixel shaders, but you can "skip" on them, And by doing so you could make the game you could'nt play before work on your computer.
To skip on the pixel shaders use 3d analyzer:

Edit: I found that you CAN emulate pixel shaders (and all sorts of other cool stuff) through 3d analyzer. BTW to download the program press on it's picture.

it's because of your card... Your GF4 ti has Pixel shaders, only in DX8.
Also, IRC, that if your card cant handle DX9 Pixel Shaders, it will revert and use DX8 pixel shaders..

yeah.. like at 1fp.... Minute. :D

emulating pixel or vertex shader will make it worse, even if there is a software to emulate you'll run at lower fps and slower frame rate, just like D3D software emulation

orysyz January 17th, 2004 01:38

how about Geforce 2 MX400 ?

orysyz January 17th, 2004 03:43

if i skip pixel shaders, can i play Silent Hill 3 that require Pixel shader. i mean can it run properly?

Sampah January 20th, 2004 02:53

yep maybe, just you might not see the pixel shader/vertex shader...

orysyz January 20th, 2004 10:10

wow that's wonderful!

somehow, what the purpose vertex shader to each game?

Demigod January 21st, 2004 03:33

To say it simply, pixel shaders and vertex shaders allow customized special effects (effects that are not possible with the GPU's built-in functions).

Sampah January 28th, 2004 06:19

yeah, and that's was a great difference in graphics when running a game with and without DirectX 8 or 9, like ex:lords of the ring: war of the ring and C&C general.
