Switch to Brotherhood. It's what FMA should have been (and the ultra dark bits are a little less dark)

i haven't watched brotherhood yet.
the original FMA anime was pretty good but it also had a depressing air to it, and i don't think i feel like watching it again (even if the story in brotherhood changes greatly towards the middle of the series).

i actually haven't heard much about FMA brotherhood after the initial fuss that FMA was being remade.
my assumption is that its just 'meh' because i haven't really heard people recommend it or anything.

You haven't heard anything cuz all the hype had already been given to the first and let's face it no matter how much more faithful the remake is it's still a remake so it's been there done that especially for those that read the manga since it follows that a lot more faithfully.

tbh i don't remember the details about deathnote too much.
i just remember misa being a simple minded blond girl that was Light's pet.

my favorite character in the series was Light.
his character was intelligent and he had good intentions with his goal to rid the world of evil people.
my favorite part was when he finally kills L, although i forgot the details, i remember him smiling with an epic evil smile when L dies.

I've only watched like 4 eps and imo the whole VS L thing actually ruins Light. He's all about justice but L hasn't done anything wrong and killing him is just an ego thing at first and then a if I don't get you you'll get me thing later. By attacking L all the way in one of those early eps (when it wasn't even really L) he showed himself to be as much bad guy as the people he was killing.

I couldn't stand Light's character, he was a sociopath with a god complex which made him one collossal douche. Watching his psyche evole into a ruthless freak was somewhat entertaining, and L's interaction with his anonymous approach was the real highligt of the series. Ryuk was pretty cool though, I love how apathetic he was towards the well being of any of the characters and was only there for his own amusement.

Spoiler:
I couldn't stand the way he justified murder as a means to rid the world of evil, his idea of justice was ruthless even for petty criminals and he used that fear to try and manipulate the populace to his own likeing, which resulted in him killing his own father, who's tireless efforts to bring down Kira cost him his life and as a side effect created cults which ultimately caused more mayhem to the peace than the criminals he initially killed.

I also lost interest after Light killed L, who was probably the most interesting character in the whole series. After he was killed off, I had to force my way through the episodes just to see Kira get what was coming to him, the arrogant smug ****.

well i don't remember the details, but the problem is that L gets in the way of Light's plan to rid the world of evil.
eventually he has to get rid of L, because if he doesn't, then his plan will eventually be stopped by L's own intelligent plans.
light is all about 'the end justifies the means'.

I tought it was funny that if light didn't take any notice of L, he(L) wouldn't had any chance of catching him...

Spoiler:
I mean the biggest mistake was attacking L(or his body double actually) when he saw him on TV taunting him, if he hadn't L wouldn't have been able to pinpoint Lights general location.

But then again we wouldn't have any story then...

The first time he attacks L it was just a pure ego thing (the TV body double) he didn't stand in his way and didn't present a threat. He was like "Hah, you think you can catch me?????!!! Die you arrogant fool!" . No Justice involved and no end, just a pure ego thing. Right there and then he destroyed his justice system and became just another loony murderer.

I kind of agree with you and kinda don't at the same time. I mean since a lot of the people he killed at least at first (after the trial runs) were actually deserving of the death penalty but had instead been imprisoned I don't really see what he was doing as murder. But yeah he lost his own plot and became a murdering madman and I agree that L is far more interesting to watch.

I just didn't find it that different from the first season, except the beginning with Haqua(was it?). But otherwise it just seemed too similar... But I guess if they make third season I'm gonna watch it too, it was pretty damn fun to watch.

Thanks.

I do have this film though and quite enjoy it but I fail to see any psychological horror that is in it. But still, a good movie though. I may play it tonight. Thank you for reminding me.

Ah okay. Thanks though. Yeah the only three I can really think of is Death Note, Higurashi, and le Petite Cosette or whatever it's spelled.

Any other suggestions? I'm addicted to psychological horror animes.

My brother recently watched such an anime called "Hell Girl" and recommended it to me. You should give that one a try.

K great. Thank you very much.

Does anyone else have any suggestions for me? Noja and Strike, I'd really appreciate your opinions since you rarely let me down when it comes to recommendations.

Well, going back when I was finished with Higurashi(and saying how awesome it is), I remember someone recommending Boogiepop Phantom saying it's similar or something... Haven't seen it myself yet. Can't find it... The genres fit though:

Boogiepop Phantom (TV) - Anime News Network

Also, during autumn we have more higurashi incoming... I wonder how they think they can continue it after pretty much concluding it perfectly in Rei.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kira (OAV) - Anime News Network

The names of the OP and ED as well as the preview picture hint that it might just be fooling around like the first and last episode of Rei... I wouldn't mind that either though, I like the characters and it's only a few episodes.

Speaking of autumn they're making Persona 4 anime... I'm both extremely excited and absolutely horrified.

Persona 4 The Animation (TV) - Anime News Network

mentioning it again because maybe you didn't see my post: try Gankutsuou.
its about a wealthy nobleman who gets revenge on the people that have screwed him over in his past. and he does so in very horrific mind-f@ck ways.
