Background's nice, but would look much better if all that light was some real inter-stellar body rather then a gundumb

P.S. What that's white alien-like thing below the icons?

That's my terminal, it isn't "stuck" there, but only when i use it (which is most of the time )

The "alien-like-thing is actually an animated kodama (some sort of spirit, from the Anime: "Princess Mononoke"
It runs around, disappears/fades away at times, makes that neat head-crackling move and sound - and keeps me company

The Arch-Linux source-package-build-repository had it, but since it is a kde-plasmoid the original source is probably build-able for any KDE-running system. Try the kde-look web-page or look for the actual source in the arch linux-aur-package listing

Since Ozz has Win7 I'm gonna assume only a port would help him.

most definitely...I don't get how the people's dekstops keep on getting cluttered with text documents or pictures or other files...the first thing I do when I get a browser or office program is change the directory where it downloads or saves to.

The whole point of a desktop is to store shortcuts and provide easy access to files you use on a regular bassis.....

why in the hell are you all complaining about that, i see no point in an empty desktop myself, it just looks bland and well to state the obvious EMPTY. Sure ill give you that i could remove the pictures (only been there since yesterday since ive been changing my desktop alot) But the icons.... they stay.

this is why i post wallpapers usually.

heh sorry about the rant.

First off there aint no isos and torrents on the desktop, sure its bad but not that bad..... yet MUAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAH.

seccond off, i have a tendancy of loosing files, if the files i am needing for (in the case of the text files) a report it is more appropriate to have them somplace i can see them, also it reminds me to actually work.

third off, if im wanting to extract something to my desktop i find it quicker to just place the archive on the desktop and then extract it, whats so wrong with that, the two there i just got this morning so.... im not that clean.

fourth off, IM LAZY..... and if i can find everything i want/need on my desktop, i will continue to use my desktop like that.

It's a problem because the desktop is not a normal storage solution, it's a locked personal folder. If you're not on your account then those files are inaccessible. Things would be just as easy to access if you made a folder in your root C directory called Documents and made everything redirect to there (because even My Documents these days is a personal folder with some restrictions on it though it should still be accessible from a different account but I prefer keeping completely neutral and creating an entirely new folder where UAC does not feel the need to mess with it). Then if you need to you can place a shortcut to that folder on your desktop.

So if I download an archive the procedure goes like this : Finished downloading so I click on my Dock Shortcut (could also be a desktop shortcut but I prefer it on my Dock) to the Downloads folder on the E root directory of my 2nd HDD. Everything in that folder is arranged according to modified so I right-click on the archive that I see instantly and then use the shell commands of my archival program (IZArc though WinRAR and 7zip also have it) and pick the command that extracts it to a folder named the same as the archive. Sorted.

yes you are, but when your system crashes due to a Virus or hardware fault or just plain OS Corruption that prevents your from booting then you're gonna have a problem, anyways I never said you need to get rid of the shortcuts, those are just fine.
