G.Skill Ripjaws as far as I remember, either that or a regular G.Skill set.

It's running. It has to do with the settings he took the picture with.

There's no such thing as an "SATA 3" cable. It's just an SATA cable.

Also, that's a low move by ASUS to only include one with that board. I got six with mine (though it's a Maximus line, but still). Which P6P67 is that? Even the standard and LE should have two minimum.

Right now, I'm leaning towards the Deluxe myself, so I hope they didn't cut back any on it.

They didn't, but it's not exactly much better than the Pro which would be my choice if I was to get a new system.

Only thing I have ever thought my MB was missing was USB 3.0 support.

I solved that with an add-on card though

As far as handhelds go, well, I get the Nintendo one.

That one comes with the front panel USB 3.0 connector. Good deal.

Yeah, would be sweet to have the front USB3.0.

I have a USB3.0 lead running from the back panel to my desktop. (Bought off Ebay for $4 for using with my 32GB USB3.0 flash drive)

Solved my issue of having to access the back of my case instantly.

The USB3.0 2TB external drive I have my eye on has a USB3.0 lead in the box so I will have 2 USB3.0 leads when I get it.

That same argument sort of applies to the Pro over the standard.

Is SLi you won't ever use worth $35 more over the standard? It's nice to keep your options open, but most won't ever use SLi, so that's not a waste of $35, but the better power circuitry of the Deluxe is? Get what suites your desires most.

I might not even get the Deluxe. It's just one that I'm eying.

The standard is actually probably the best "value", all things considered.

Well what makes the Pro better than the boards below is that it's the first board that's viable for a multi-card setup (SLI OR XFire) which means it has the best expansion possibility with the least price. The Vanilla may have two PCIe-x16 ports but the 2nd is basically useless thanks to a shared bandwidth limitation.

Does it run one at 4x because the other is at 16x? I know if you have two GPUs in, you only get 8x and 8x, and that's on ANY of those boards, because it's a limitation of the LGA1155 platform.

If that other just runs at 4x when it's not used and the other is in use at 16x, then all the Pro offers is SLi and nothing more.

If it's always at 4x regardless, then yeah, that makes Crossfire worthless on the lesser ones, but still, considering most people DON'T go with multiple GPUs, the best "value" is still the standard.

Worse, it shares bandwidth with both PCIe-1x slots and a USB3 slot effectively turning it into a elongated PCIe-1x slot unless you're ok with losing those slots for a max of 4x.

The Pro, Evo and Deluxe have the same limitation but it acts only on the third PCIe-x16 slot making a multi-card setup viable.

See, that's why this garbage with "lanes" needs to end. You put a x16 slot on a motherboard, you give it as many dedicated lanes. Period. We didn't deal with this with PCI or AGP.

Still, most people don't do multiple GPUs, so the standard still stands the best value in my opinion.

I swapped out my Athlon XP system for my Opteron. I'll rebuild the AXP once I get a different case and watercool the Opteron again. Once I do that, the AXP will be going to my friend on long-term loan .

First picture is the Athlon XP, second is the Opteron. The OCZ power supply I'm using with it has long enough cables to allow me to route all of them behind the motherboard tray (as well as the motherboard having the connectors in a good spot), so I took full advantage of that for cable management.

I love seeing old Iron

What waterblock are you going to be using on the Opteron?

I'm not sure yet. I have two Danger Den TDXs and one D-Tek Fuzion stashed away. The Fuzion performs slightly better, but is harder to install (doubly so with DD Perfect Seal barbs and 1/2" ID tubing).

Edit: A bit of a blast from the past for me: 3 GHz Club entry and Socket 939 overclocking database postings from when DFI-Street/DIY-Street were still around.

The original Fuzion? I had the Fuzion two that I installed on my 8800gt. It worked like a charm, with a peak of 36c. Awesome performance.

I have been out of the water cooling scene for awhile now, I wonder Feser is making water blocks yet. I was one of their first customers (The 240 Rad was nearly $200 when I bought it, now it's like $80-90)

Im really partial to them for that reason.
