Post Cxbx 0.7.7 Released!

Caustik has released version 0.7.7 of his Xbox emulator titled Cxbx. Caustik made a post showing some major cxbx WIP. The screenshots show CXBX running an XMV (movie) of Turok Evolution! This is significant progress in Cxbx! Here are the screenshots!

Features new in 0.7.7 include:
  • Turok Evolution displays startup graphics and intro sequence!!
  • Stella and a few other homebrew games are now playable :]
This means you can play all your atari games on Cxbx, which
    is a great novelty.
  • Finally low level emulation of the heap, which is a very
very nice thing and fixed some glitches/bugs.
  • Fixed timing (FPS is much higher now! it is unbelievable)
***Update***
Caustik has released a bugfix versions that resolves some issues people have been having with X-Marbles. Cxbx 0.7.7b is now available.

» Grab the latest version and the source code here.
» Visit the Cxbx homepage.
» View all of the latest screenshots at our Screenshots Page.

thats crazy

razor blade, you seem to forget like many people, there is no "POP XBOX GAME IN DVDROM" and play, XBOX dvd's do not work on pc, you need an xbox hooked up to the computer to do it, which will probly be cxbx's downfall, unless there is some way to play images.

There is a way but since it doesn't seem legal I will not say.

edit: Anyone else having this problem? None of the demos work now for me. Cube and the rest nor the emus or games that used to. Is it just me or everyone else getting this?

I was told that you could only run cxbx with a p3 or p4 cpu. I was wondering if you can confirm this caustik.

a pc cannot read xbox discs because of the file system used, which is not iso9660. i still don't know if they can be read with a raw display program...

Re: Cxbx playing XMVs!

Really great news, again
I can't say for sure, but maybe we'll have playable commercial games by the end of the year.

Keep up the good work, Caustik!

Re: Cxbx playing XMVs!

What is really amazing about this emu is the quality of the images it so far shows running. They have no glitching of any kind, if only a bit. Great work!!

They can, try opening an Xbox disc in winhex and you won't get any read errors. The problem is a comp can't understand the file system but this could easily be remidied with software. In other words it may be possible to play xbox discs from the original cd with Cxbx in the future
