Thumbs up Game Recommendation: Valkyrie Profile

I have played more than 2 hours of this game I have to say that this game is very good.

The battle engine has depth. Unlike other turn based RPG games, you can move your players all at once to kill an enemy. This leads to some amazing combos and finishing moves.

The dungeons are different as well. The dungeons takes place as a side scrolling platform meaning Lenneth Valkyrie can run, jump, slide, pick up and throw items and hit her enemies.

But it's not an action RPG. When Lenneth touches an enemy the screen goes into a battle screen. Oh yeah, no random encounters!

Valkyrie Profile ranks up there with Chrono Trigger.

I really liked VP musics. Maybe the best musics I've ever heard on RPGs. (A tie with Xenogears!)

Re: Game Recommendation: Valkyrie Profile

well, even though music is usually at the bottom of my list in rating a game, i don't particularly remember it having that great of music. but, that could be my sub-par memory kicking in.

If u still have the game, try to listen the music number 7. (Blameless Thoughts, or something!). But use VGS or the ethernal plugin on EPSXE. The musics are weird with other plugin.

HA!!.... another one discovers the greatness behind this masterpiece of an RPG. I find it very satisfactory to see people (justly) praise this game, even after all this time

Re: Game Recommendation: Valkyrie Profile

The only thing I didn't liked in VP was the turn system. I mean, u have 300 turns to play the game, so u can't explore the world on your own 'cause this'll take some turns. The game system is very weird.
But the rest is great. And actually, I really liked the story. The battles are really fun to play, u'll NEVER get tired of it.
And Leneth... Oh...

Re: Game Recommendation: Valkyrie Profile

well, i didn't find that there really was that much to explore, i always managed to go everywhere without even worrying about the turns, especially in the later chapters where'd i'd be resting turns away.

Re: Game Recommendation: Valkyrie Profile

I liked Valkyrie Profile... A dramatic game, yes.. Good storyline... Great arts of the characters (I like Shiho... ) Great battle... Great music... Especially the one where there is a scene in Weeping Lily... I've finished the game many, many times... After playing the 4th time or was it the 5th.. I've finally unlocked the ending A... It's a great game, imo...

Now, i must return those things back to them by death...

Freya? yeah, she was alright too. one thing i didn't like is the way they made the mermaid not as... fun to look at once she joined your team. they made her a normal human
